It looks like it might be the same box used on the RTV. I really need to do something similar (to my RTV) to keep from buying so many dang outer filters.

I understand it is pre-filter.

What type of pipe is that?

I have an RTV also and I already modified it, this is a post I put on this forum on how I did it, this may help you, it its the same air filter housing, http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/customization/303120-home-made-snorkel-rtv-900-a.html FYI read the owners manual and it says the air filters are washable, but raising the air intake helps tremendously. I only clean mine about every 2 months since I modified it....

Hi descanso1,
Nicely down! Excellent welding! What type welding process did you use? Tig, Mig, or gas ? I'm currently working on the installation of an air intake pre-cleaner for my Mahindra Max 25 sub compact. I like your idea of side mounting the piping. I was going to cut a hole in the top of the hood but your side mount gives much easier hood opening. I'm going to check and see if I can shoehorn the intake pipe between the hood and the hydraulic hoses. I'm using 2 inch od. tubing. What size is you tubing? It looks like you have plenty of clearance between hydraulic hoses and intake piping? How much clearance do you have? My factory air intake is next to the radiator, and needless to say a very dirty place for intake air. The radiator and the air intake are competing for air through the small grill mesh openings. The grill mesh plugs up really fast with grass debris this time of year. I have to clean the grill every 30 minutes. This grill plugging is such a problem that I'm thinking of installing a pipe in one of the mesh grill opening and high mounting a pre-cleaner so that at least some air can get to the radiator if I forget to stop and clean the grill screens! Please everyone add your 2 cents! All ideas are much appreciated!

I have a 2013 L3200DT. I added a precleaner made by Syklone (model 9000). It is small enough to fit in the space above the battery and slides right on the air cleaner housing inlet. My hope is to increase air filter life.

With as many mods as I have done, I will more than likely do that next. After I am done with this one I will probably rename it from Kubota to My tractor!!!! Has anyone removed the muffler from one yet? Like the loud sound.... I have a Toyota Tundra and with 50 miles on it I changed the exhaust over to dual Magnaflows, sounds great and a little better performance. Exhaust is more than likely next. When does it end?????????

I haven't tried the straight pipe, but my exhaust with the round straight thru muffler was LOUD nad would make my head hurt after working it for a while. I went with the oval muffler (for 97 Honda Civic) and now it's about the same as the stock muffler.

Straight pipes can not only make the head of the operator hurt, but everyone else within ear shot too. Please do everyone a favor and keep your mufflers on your tractors, cars, trucks, motorcycles and everything else that's not on the track. It's called courtesy and showing respect.

How does the pre-cleaner work to separate the dust - spinner, or vortex vanes?

For better air flow consider long radius ells on your projects that will allow them. Air doesn't like turning sharp 90° corners very well.

Filter box on my Mahindra is actually in front of the radiator above the battery. First thing that sees the dust is the air box. Seems like a bad design to me, but what do I know......

I'll look into a prefilter like this.

If you can relocate the intake it makes a big difference as to how often you have to clean the filter, check into relocating your filter box, I am not familiar with the Mahindras.. Send a pix of the box and engine compartment maybe I can come up with a couple suggestions. As they say YOU HAVE TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.....
