Modify Bottom Plow for SCUT?

I actually was given the one I have by my wifes grandfather. He pulled it with his old 15hp Yanmar. So that ad I found is all I can judge by.

that looks just like the plow I have. Mine has the same problem. I use it on a kubota b7510 and can only lift it an inch or so off the ground. I can pull it without much trouble but would love to find a way to lift it higher. I payed $200 for it new. I added a home made coulter to it and used it to dig a ditch for a water line to the garden. I rolled the grass back in the ditch and by the end of summer could not tell where I had done it.

I still didn't take a measuring stick to it. But, I believe it may be a 16". It's made by international machinery out of Ohio (I think)

We decided to start watching auctions to find something decent that will fit. The plow in Frederick just didn't look that great.

Do you have a pic of this home made coulter? I may want to add that to my next plow. Sound neat, being able to just lay the sod back.

its on a pallet burried in the snow, but if I get a chance I will dig it out and get a shot of it. I need to do some more work to get it to work great but it did the job.

Please pardon my ignorance on plowing, etc. I have inherited this plow. however, it does not fit my SCUT (18 hp 4x4 Kubota). I believe the kubota will pull it, but the plow is too tall.

I do a fair amount of welding (although, I'm not pro).

My problem is, I'm not sure if I want to go through the pain of modifying this plow to fit my tractor, or try to sell it and buy one that fits. Part of my problem, is that I'm not sure just how many used bottom plows are available in my area for SCUTS.

what are your thoughts? Here is a pic (I hope I can get the thumbnail thing to work).

Are you saying it's too tall to plow or too tall to transport out to the field without ripping things up here and there?

For transporting, you could shorten the toplink as short as it will go. Also, you might have another set of pins on you 3PH that will result in a slightly higher lift.

No cutting or welding yet, but I've got some ideas on how you might accomplish that if needed.

no hurry - I doubt it will be any time soon before I find a plow that fits.

Yes, it's too tall (by ~6 inches ). My top link is already as short as it goes.

I don't think it would take long to modify it (shorten the height) to make it fit. However, it is on the large side. My previous tractor (a 21hp Massey 4x4) which, was about twice the physical size as my 18 horse HST Kubota had a workout pulling it at full depth.

I'm still not 100% against modification. However, I don't see it in the near future.

But - please give me your ideas on modifications... I may just change my mind :)

update - I modified the plow this weekend. Overall, it only took me about 1.5 hours. Had to cut the bottom bolt bolt off, drill the upper bolt hold larger and drill a new bolt hole for the "shear pin". also, had to cut about 3" off of the front angle (Is that where a cultivator would go?).

I am glad I watched a movie online the other week on how to properly setup a plow for my tractor. That allowed me to be sure it would fit mine when properly setup.

My little 18hp HST pulled that plow like nothing. I wasn't actually plowing for crops, rather, I had to move a bunch of undisturbed dirt (clay) from 1 place to another. My little tractor needed the dirt to be busted up first.

The plow worked like a champ.

Thanks everyone for your help.
