Modify Bottom Plow for SCUT?

Please pardon my ignorance on plowing, etc. I have inherited this plow. however, it does not fit my SCUT (18 hp 4x4 Kubota). I believe the kubota will pull it, but the plow is too tall.

I do a fair amount of welding (although, I'm not pro).

My problem is, I'm not sure if I want to go through the pain of modifying this plow to fit my tractor, or try to sell it and buy one that fits. Part of my problem, is that I'm not sure just how many used bottom plows are available in my area for SCUTS.

what are your thoughts? Here is a pic (I hope I can get the thumbnail thing to work).

It looks like it is basically a "middle buster"

I bought a middle buster plow last year from TSC for $75 .
it is a grey one "chinese" but it does the trick welds looked okay. it fit the 3 point hitch pins no problem on my BX2660

you might have a lot of fiddly work to make yours fit the 3 point hitch, and it may be too big in plow section and need cutting and welding there too. but if your time is free , maybe would work.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not plow expert, but I don't believe it's a middle buster. Here is another pic - sorry about the first one, it didn't show everything as good as it should have.

Do you know what size it actually is? I would think you want nothing larger than a single bottom 12". I have a BX1500 and a 12" plow made by Specialty Products. I can lift it clear with no problem. I figure you will need to sell it and get a smaller one if it is any larger than a 12.

Time for next dumb question.... how do I measure it to tell how big it is?

that is a mold board plow. you measure how wide a cut it takes and then it should plow 1/2 of that deep. so 12 wide should go 6 deep. my bx2200 pulls a 12. but that depends on the ground and your traction. check past post on this subject as it was explained in great detail thanks al

Right off I can't remember. Believe you measure the point length. As mentioned there are some good threads here about it all. I am betting it is bigger than a 12" plow.

i will try to explain, the bottom of the plow that is resting on the skid. one part goes straight back that is point one. the other is the bottom piece on the curved part, part two. go to the back of the plow and measure straight accross,(same axiels as the two pins are for the three point hitch) at the widest distance on the bottom of part one and two. that is how wide the farrow will be when plowing.

Any idea how much I could get for it? I see that new plows for SCUTS are around $500.00 in my area

I found a 12" Brinley in Frederick for $275 on a well known online ad site. If yours is a 14 (it looks in good shape) I figure a bit more than that. Just a guess though.
