Can the lift arms be cut off and a Quick Hitch system like Pats be welded on them so you won't be effecting the length of your top link.

The short answer is yes. But why? A new top link is $15-$20 and a lot easier.

Have you fell in love with that new tractor yet?

The lower links on the L3400 have a bend at the end and the turnbuckle will get in the way.

:) The good news is that you can buy a rod end extension for your cylinder if you need it. The cylinder may have enough travel already.

I did that to my wife's Jinma... cut the lift arms by the amount Pat's extended them. She has a top link too that would be totally extended otherwise.
Here they are normal length with Pat's on and then shortened up. The last photo shows where the section was cut from and re-welded.
I drilled new stabilizer holes to allow them to connect properly to the lower links, closer to the Pat's EZ Change.

Nothing against Pat's product but I would get nervous about welding them on, just in case I broke one, or folded a 3pth bar and had to replace it. I do like the idea of cutting a piece out and shortening the bars however, just wouldn't weld the Quik Hitch...

Rob,

Did the lift arms on the Jinma come reinforced or is that some your handiwork? I am talking about the "T" back on teh bottom of the arms. I am guessing that is some of your work to forestall the inevitable working in reverse with the BB.:D

LOL Mike,
You know me better than most!
Thanks for the compliment, but no, those lower links came that way from the factory. I thought it to be an improvement because they are pretty wimpy on Loretta's 284 Jinma. I wonder if they saw any of my threads on adding that "T" to my Kama lower links? I was surprised to see them like that when her tractor arrived.

If you get a set of Carters hitches your top link won't have to be extended as they sit on the tops of the lift arms.

That's the ones I'm gonna go with. I talked with Jerome Carter yesterday and he talked me out of cutting my lift arms.

You would think that some of these tractor companies would start making their lift arms Quick Hitch.
