Well, does it get any better? A few weeks ago my wife tells me we need a tractor. After reading here awhile I know I've come to the right place to ask.

We are building a house on our 7 acres and there's lots of stuff to do here for years even tho we will leave the lot all trees. No mowing, but digging, sculpting our building site, moving logs/trees, clearing for driveway/paths, I already can think of so much more.

Right now I've got her sold on a 2015 w/FEL and backhoe - except she still thinks the BX24 is still an option for us. The price difference is about $2K more for the 2015 around here (SW of Atlanta down I-85 north of Newnan). I know the 2015 will be more up to our tasks - lifting/moving a log for instance. I don't think we need a larger machine - getting around the trees limits us somewhat. I think filled Ag tires would be best to maximize traction and the FEL capability on our hilly terrain, also so we can take the BH off and still do FEL work - since the 2710 BH is quite wide (compared to the CK20 w/BH), which is an accessibility issue for us gettin' around. I think I prefer the 2710, I assume warranty or other issues would go better than mixing in a BH from another company. Also, hear that 3ph BH not as good as the subframe ones. But the cost difference is making me consider Wallenstein, etc. Can someone tell me the other BH brands/models which will subframe mount to the 2015?

Does anyone know anything about the dealers in my area? I know I need to pick a good one.
TTR-Total Truck Repair, LaGrange GA 30241
Meadows Farm Equipment, Wedowee AL 36278
American All Pro Inc., Lawrenceville GA 30045
Parkway Tractor, Blue Ridge GA 30515
Auto Supply Company, Piedmont AL 36272

I know the prices are best at TTR and Meadows, Meadows seems most tractor savvy overall, Parkway is right near the Calhoun dist plant, Piedmont AL just seems too far.

None of them has a 2015 w/2710 BH, and we really want to see that baby in action before we buy one - that is part of the holdup with going forward. Concerned that the tractor hydraulics can make it go fast enough, wanna see how it digs, etc. Anybody know how I can get to a 2015/2710 to see it work?

So, as a tractor newbie who has rented up to now, am I on track here, missin' anything? Any and all ideas welcome.

Oh yeah, forgot to say that the TTR dealer in LaGrange says he can't get a toothbar for the 2015 FEL, other dealers seem to have access to them. Is a toothbar something I can install later? I don't have a welder but could drill the bucket if needed. I want a bar which has it's own cutting edge, too rather than just the individual teeth.

Couple things, First: welcome--I think you came to the right place. Second, have not seen a 2015 w/BH, but You don't want to use anything with this tractor but a subframe unit, and I believe if you install something other than a Mahindra BH (Bradco), it will most likely void your tractor warranty. Third, I'm not sure what the 2015 hydraulic output is, but I'd think about a PTO hyd pump/resevoir unit rather than the "plug ins" as the hydraulic oil can get pretty hot from using a BH. MY .02$ worth. bobg in va

From my experience as a Dealer the 2015/2710 doesn't require a pto pump for efficient operation. Also Wallenstein does make a sub frame for the 2015 but after their last price increase it seems to be priced right with the Mahindra 2710 and the 2710 is a little larger hoe. My customers have given me very positive feed back on the 2015/2710 combination. I hope I have been helpful.

Well, does it get any better?

There are two ways it can get better:

Momma wants a bigger tractor, and

Momma wants two tractors...

To answer your other question. Yes you can order an aftermarket toothbar, drill your holes and mount it at a later time. By the way there was a member here selling a 2015 w/ backhoe a while back. Don't know if he ever sold it. I think there are some pics in the members photo section.

The Mahindra 2015 has a awesome backhoe and you will be impresed with it.
If you are looking at an aftermarket backhoe I would go with the woods 70X and you can even get a thumb for it.
I comes with a 2 year full warranty.
Woods also has the tooth bar for the bucket.

After reading what you intend use of the 2015, I'm left wondering if the 2015 is big enough. I think you need to consider the following:

1. The 2015 lifting capacity is 915 lbs. However, because Mahindra rates their FEL at the pivot points, the true lifting capacity is probably somewhere around 732 lbs.

2. The 2015 weighs in at 1973 lbs. You're probably going to have to keep the backhoe attached as a counterweight.

I've never heard of someone buying too much tractor. However, I've seen a lot of guys not buy enough tractor, and then go trade up. Finding out in the middle of a job that you don't have enough machine would be really bad. Suggest you look at the 2615 at a minimum.

I talked to one of the owners at American All Pro Mahindra dealer today, a very knowledgeable guy about Mahindras. He says an aftermarket BH wouldn't void the warranty, but that damage done installing it wouldn't be covered.

Also, the pump output is 5.8 gpm for the 2015. According to another Mahindra dealer I talked to, that seems really low to run the BH - he thought it might be slow running on that. But he had never seen a Mahindra BH on a 2015 either. He has installed Barco BHs with PTO pumps. Says those PTO pumps would be running at 21 gpm on those. That is one of the reasons I wanted to see the 2710 in action.

We looked at the 3215 and the 2615, I was gonna go for the 3215 myself, but the verdict was they were just too big. Remember, she is gonna run this thing too, and the other reasonable option for us is the BX24 'Bota. I think we can get the jobs done with the 2015, but it might take us longer than with bigger iron. Not the case with the BX24 which is in a whole different class.

I appreciate all the response - I plan to load the tires, and I may opt for the counterweights for when the BH is off. If anyone learns about the dealers, etc. let me know. That 70-X Woods looks good too.

Most pto pump setups for a 6 to 7 1/2' hoe, put out 6 to 7 gpm. Believe me the 2015/2710 does a very good job just as it is. If you do your homework well you sill see I am correct. Nothing in it for me just trying to get you the most for your money. Good luck!
