Have you looked at the new 2415? I noticed it was out on the Mahindra site a few days ago. Looks like a very neat tractor - appears to be a different design than the 2015 and 2615. Good Luck.

I talked to one of the owners at American All Pro Mahindra dealer today, a very knowledgeable guy about Mahindras. He says an aftermarket BH wouldn't void the warranty, but that damage done installing it wouldn't be covered.

Also, the pump output is 5.8 gpm for the 2015. According to another Mahindra dealer I talked to, that seems really low to run the BH - he thought it might be slow running on that. But he had never seen a Mahindra BH on a 2015 either. He has installed Barco BHs with PTO pumps. Says those PTO pumps would be running at 21 gpm on those. That is one of the reasons I wanted to see the 2710 in action.

We looked at the 3215 and the 2615, I was gonna go for the 3215 myself, but the verdict was they were just too big. Remember, she is gonna run this thing too, and the other reasonable option for us is the BX24 'Bota. I think we can get the jobs done with the 2015, but it might take us longer than with bigger iron. Not the case with the BX24 which is in a whole different class.

I appreciate all the response - I plan to load the tires, and I may opt for the counterweights for when the BH is off. If anyone learns about the dealers, etc. let me know. That 70-X Woods looks good too.

I've sold a dozen or so of the 2015's with the 2710 hoe. They are plenty quick and do not need an external pump. As has been stated already, 21gpm is not correct for a PTO pump for a rig this size either. The PTO pump we put on the larger backhoes is normally a 9gpm. By the way, the warranty agreement clearly states that damage caused by a non-Mahindra backhoe is not covered. That does not mean installing one voids the warranty, but if it causes problems, you are on your own. I suspect a sub-frame style backhoe wouldn't be a problem, but I'd surely not install a 3-point type.

Whatcha mean by "larger backhoes"? My 511 requires 11gpm, and if I'm not mistaken (sometimes I am), the PTO pump I have puts out about 16gpm. BobG in VA

BobG, the 509 and 511 if ordered with the DP pump is 9gpm, and the bigger DPO pump is 14gpm.

Momma wants you to have time to get some serious work done and spend some time with her in the house or in town. So don't spend your money on a 20 HP tractor with frills like a toy backhoe. It will be like playing in a sandbox. Spend the dollars on a larger compact tractor or small utility tractor. You need a 5 ft medium duty box blade (that is a very handy device), a medium duty boom pole and a 5 ft bushhog medium duty. The 4wd 3510 would be a good fit. Spend your money on the umph not a toy. My JD 1050 4wd is for sale, but your better value is a new 3510 4wd for this kind of work. Do your thing in the yard (minimize) and spend time with momma (maximize)!

Send me a private email if you wish. Guys, all of these hydraulic details gags me and I am an engineer. My retired navy neighbor can run circles around all of us with bigger tractors with his 4ft FEL and JD790 but he is retired, has all of the time in the world, and his momma likes him to get out of the house. LOL. So Cheers!

Bob I think it is the 14gallon pump. I'd have to check the model # again to be sure. I know it is more than 11 since that is what the 00 series make anyway.

Mike 5252 - I have looked at the 2415, looks fine to me, but not much more oomph, and the 2015 has a longer pedigree of satisfied owners so . . . I think we newbies should stick with the tried and true for now.

michellesc7 - Several times we had to make do with other methods because we didn't want to cut our nice oaks to get by this or that with a skidsteer or whatever. So I think the 2015 is about as big as we need and I think it will get the job done. And too, remember she is gonna run this tractor - maybe more than me once she gets the hang of it, and she is intimidated by the bigger ones for now.

As I said we won't be doing any mowing, so no bushhog, and we also have a neighbor who will lend us his box blade off his JD CUT - we will let him use our BH in return. He has a 3ph BH he bought used which he says might be able to plant a shrub, but not much else.

From what I've seen so far I disagree that the 2710 is a toy backhoe, seems to be relatively serious - and I've had several times I really could have used it. I've got 2 trenching jobs I need to do right this minute and lots of other stuff I can think of. I've had other folks tell how handy a BH was for stuff I wouldn't have thought of unless I had one - it ain't gonnna just be a counterweight for the FEL. I can think of times I used a 1400# mini excavator to do some pretty neat stuff - and that was a little sucker.

The JD790 was the first CUT I was initially sold on - but looks like I can get what I need for less with the 2015 HST (she likes the easier HST drivin') - and with a BH as a bonus from what I remember going over the numbers a few years back. And I believe the JD790 was available in gear tranny only.

One think I notice about the 2015 which makes me wonder - the tractor is wider than the FEL - tho not by much. Thought that normally isn't supposed to be the case.

1st of all you got a good momma. 2ndly, you have done some homework.
Having a backhoe is nice. The backhoe for the small unit lists for over $6K with the tractor - list over $17k for the 20 hp tractor and backhoe.
I paid $60 an hour for a large backhoe and operator and their fuel was included. So say that is about 100 hrs of work. For the small one it would take at least 200 hrs to do the same work, plus your time and your fuel. So the question is- is it worth it? basically, say you need to have at least 250 hrs of work to do, to make it worthwhile not counting your time. That is about 6 full time man weeks worth of work, after you figure how to coordinate and get good at using it-i have trouble with it. Surely if you need a tractor you will need your own atttachments like a boompole, post hole digger, subsoiler blade, cart, etc.
