Received official fax from Ted Wade and it is official that Montana Tractor is closing down as a Tractor dist. They intend to keep the parts, service, and warranty up for continued support. All to be done by 1-1-11. The Tarboro parts depot will be closed effective December 24th and will be sending everything back to Arkansas. Arkansas will be operational by December 13.

In addition to the personnel at Tarboro (tough years), the biggest problem would be parts for the Farmtrac manufactured loaders, backhoes, implements and parts for the Long and Escort tractors. LS tractors parts should be available, warranty may be a struggle.

Well the article didnt mention a town, just a county so I dont know where this facility will be. Maybe it is the Montana facility if it is in Nash County North Carolina. I do like my LS tractor and sure hope they make it big here so I dont end up with a Montana type. I think they will eventually drop all the rebadge lines if their dealership get going and it sure appears to be growing daily.

Interesting to note that it is only about 45 miles from Tarboro. In fact, this website has a nice map with an interesting look at the area.

Viewing the equipment, you see a lot of stuff that must have been used by Long years ago and the new equipment that Escorts/farmtrac put in in 2004 to build loaders. Still lots of old Farmtracs laying around apparently. If Montana is planning to stay in business supplying parts, wonder why they are auctioning off so many parts? I would love to see someone buy the plant and manufacture something, anything, but I suppose that is unlikely.
