Hi Tevi. No belly mowers available. If you get the opportunity to see and drive one however, do it. They are great tractors.

Sorry I missed you today Dan. Walked by/through the CCE area a few times, but everyone was busy so I didn't want to interrupt. I did speak to the regional Montana rep- he gave me your card. And, of course, Mr. Culver from Dewey was there. He said you told him I might be by.

I'll be back at the show on Saturday and will track you down for sure then. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

new holland tc25 --- 2474 lbs </font>

Interesting comparison of tractors here.
The New Holland TC25 was discontinued how many years ago???
The Branson has a 12/12 gear transmission with a syncro reverser.
The smaller Kioti has an 8/2 standard gear transmissions.
The larger Kioti has an 8/8 shuttle shift transmission.
The JD 4200 series is available in a dozen variants, which one is the LG being compared to?

Even if all the tractors were still in production, it strikes me that NH is a deluxe tractor with hydro or gear options, with good ergonomics (even for that model but the newer models are among the best in the industry) designed for the homeowner with a couple acres who wants to mow his lawn and use an FEL. The LK series Kiotis are their least sophisticated models with older design and basic features. Why not also throw in the Kioti CK25, it weighs a bit over 3040# has a HST or gear (8/8 syncro shuttle) and is fully featured? There are simply too many variants of the JD to discuss, but they, like the NH range from well featured to full featured deluxe units with hydro or gear options. And no mention at all of Jinma, Kama or Mahindra?

I guess I don't see how it is logical to compare tractors that are simply so different. The salesman may be good but it strikes me his skill is mostly in confusing the issue by mismatching machines. And please note, I am in no way criticizing any tractor brand here, I am just pointing out some obvious differences. I'm sure we'd also see some differences in the PTOs and other mechanicals, as well as options like the ability for some to operate Mid-Mount Mowers and some that cannot. Heck, a tractor that has a MMM is certainly aimed at a different market than one that doesn't have that as an option. I guess it seems to me that the selection of tractors chosen is convenient for the sales rep to prove his point (whatever that is) JMHO.

Hi Bob,

I think that post with the weights of the different tractors was aimed at me. This thread started and a poster put some bogus information out as fact. Another poster then said he saw an LG on Ebay and I said if it was the LG2740 it was great and proceeded to give a little info about that machine and included the weight.

Seems like that weight inclusion of the tractor somehow caught his eye. Basically, I was trying to post some facts about that model of tractor the LG2740.

By the way, I am not knocking any machine.

I certainly didn't mean to imply that anyone was, it seems this thread has been pretty even handed all through it.

It just really struck me that that one post had the various tractors which seem to be compared to each other, yet the tractors are differently designed, differently featured, and probably aimed at totally different types of buyers. It just seemed very odd, that is all I was trying to point out.

There is another thread running where a guy is contemplating a 27hp gas powered garden type tractor to a 35hp Branson. That thread got me thinking about this thread and the post early on about the weights and the various tractors that were compared.

And folks who believe tractors are better because they weigh more seem to really confuse me. Why is weight good if the tractor will be used for mowing? To me that is when weight is really bad, especially if the soil has any clay content to it. Now if the tractor is used for pulling a plow, then weight is good. But if using a tiller or rotary cutter, then weight offers no advantage, but PTO hp certainly comes into play. And a light tractor and a heavy tractor are equally adept at drilling holes with a PHD. For FEL work, then a hydro or shuttle shift machine is probably a more important consideration light or heavy. . . but heavy does have its advantages with FEL work. . . but then again, balance achieved through ballast is more important than raw weight.

By the way, I am in no way trying to make a value judgement about the LG tractors, I've not seen one, let alone played with one. My 2 posts are simple observations about the comparisons that I saw in this thread

The dealer selling Branson here in Louisville just added LG Montana to his advertising this week.

I am considering buying a 5740 over a Kubota L5030. A big lack of information from the salesman and dealer will probably prevent my purchase. A few dealers replied in this post, is there anywhere I can get detail information, perhaps a pdf version of the owners manual and detailed information on Montana's implements. I would like to see how they compare to Bush Hog. There's no way I can spend 30K+ on a Montana + implements without more information.
