The compressor motor thread got me to thinking. I had a standing offer to buy a compressor with a blown motor, but it's about the same size as mine. The label says mine provides 4.6 scfm at 90 PSI, but I have never seen it.

Anyway, the guy wanted $50 for a compressor with a blown motor, so I took him up on it. $19 for a new starting capacitor and it is now running fine. I put together a hose between the two tanks, and now have two compressors running my air tools. I have an orbital sander than needs 6 scfm, and I can run it all day without waiting for the compressor to build up air again.

Life is good.

I have 2 small compressors one oil filled, one oil less, both plumbed into a 100 pound propane tank that I paid nothing for. I can run my nail guns off the oil filled compressor as it is quiet. But if I have to run the rattle gun or the air ratchet, ect, I turn both on and the 2 will keep up with almost anything.

Mine are both the oil filled style. They have about a 10 PSI difference in their switch pressure, so the old one kicks on first, and if it can't keep up with the demand, pressure drops enough that the new one starts.
