More trouble for Ford diesels

Hopefully your dealer has one. I talked with a co-worker in NW PA today and he said the dealer in Warren, PA has not been able to order one yet. I hear that it blows the LBZ out of the water.

As for listing the exhaust as being changed I just assumed that the DPF would be included in the exhaust since that is where it is located. I was actually just being to lazy to write out Diesel Particulate Filter and did not want to assume that everbody knew what DPF stood for.

We have had many posts on this forum about the EGT dilemma with all diesel engines, of all makes. It sounds to me as though the events of the Ford firebreather, which I still think is cool, could apply to any diesel, especially with the new particulate filters in place. The "big three" are all currently making very good trucks, Ford included. I feel Ford's main issue with the 6.0L was not the truck itself, but rather the lack of concern toward customers who had problems, which really hurt its image and brand loyalty. I am actively looking at a new truck right now, and I will say the 2008 SD Ford is the most impressive truck to me I have driven, and I have driven all of them, plus the gas Toyota Tundra. The truck has good power, stock off the dealer lot, and is so quiet and refined for a vehicle that size. My only reservation about buying one right now is my desire to keep my current truck, the 2002 7.3L. It seems Ford's (as an entity) actions have soured so many that now anything is fair game--perhaps deservedly so. I would say though that if the EGT on my pickup went overboard due to excess fueling or another action, I likely would not have the benefit of an open loop program--the motor would just blow. I do wonder, though, how each manufacturer is going to deal with the emissions issues and their effect on truck performance and safety.

Greg,
Good articles. But just so you know the LMM Duramax is out and on the road. But since I changed territories I have almost no Dodge dealers to see if the new Cummins is out yet.

I would think since they are all doing about the same thing, It could happen to any of them.

The fire was kinda cool!

I would think with all them new emmisions gizzys it could be some time for all 3 to get it right.:(

Thats precicely the point. Unfortunatly no one is saying that... We need Paul Harvey to start reading the news for the automotive industry, so we can hear "the rest of the story"...:D

BTW, I was just informed that the Dodge has trucks on the road too, possibly not as many, but they are out there too..
