P.S.: I hope this thread doesn't get locked. Its obviously gotten silly, but hunterrdigefarm did give us some serious information to think about so it isn't totally useless and I hope everyone is laughing at this point even if they aren't getting useful info.

Seeeeeeee..... I told you, just keep your paranoia to yourself doctor Georgie and maybe we'll get an answer to my original question. ;) Have a moon pie and an RC cola with your meds, there's no shooter in the grassy knoll.....:D

I told you there was no need to ask "why". Don't need a PHD to figure that out do I, doctor Georgie? :p :p

:D

Now please, allow our members to answer the question "which 80 HP 4x4 utility tractor has the most domestic content?"

This isn't about tractors, (neither is this thread anymore!!!) but here is the domestic content data for automobiles from 2004. Most up to date data I have found.

As with all net data, you get what you paid for.

(Hope I didn't spoil the argument by providing data!)

By the way, I got this data to rebutt a page 1 comment that Toyota was the most domestic content truck and accord most for a car. WRONG on both counts.

Chev and Ford trucks at 85% (ram at 75%)
Accord and Tundra at 60%

Kia - about 1%.

Mahindra's largest series, the 5520/6520/7520 is built mostly in India. The smaller ones mostly in Japan...but you are asking about 80ish HP. Tires, wheels, seats, loaders, backhoes, and perhaps the batteries and ROPs are USA. Final assembly is in the USA of course. What percent domestic would be hard to quantify. 10% domestic on a bare tractor, more on a tractor/loader. OK, theres a shot at it.

Now I suggest someone take a Kubota, JD, NH, etc and do the same.

Pat, you're just ruining this thread! But since it has been ruined in so many ways, let me tell you why you are wrong.:D

Thanks for that. I was beginning to think no one cared or noticed how I was personally responsible, ONCE AGAIN, for completely ruining a thread, single handedly with no assistance whatsoever from the individuals quoting each others quotes that quoted each others quoted quotes.

Some of us have the knack and some don't.

I don't have a PHD. But I need one. Need 12 three foot holes for my tractor shed and really don't want to do it by hand. But in addition to being paranoid and liberal, I am a cheap son-of-a-gun so I'll probably dig them by hand.

Now please, allow our members to answer the question "which 80 HP 4x4 utility tractor has the most domestic content?"

Yeah. What's up with that?

"Why can't we all just get along?"
Rodney King

Edited to add:

On November 29, 2007, Rodney King was shot in the face, arms, back and torso, with birdshot while riding his bicycle in San Bernardino, California, but police characterized his injuries as "not life threatening".

And apparently no one has mentioned Dick Cheney as a suspect!

Note: PhD does not equal PHD. I have one of the latter.

That is a terrible thing to hear about Rodney, I'm so disappointed they used the wrong shot size.

You can buy both on the internet.

Well, hi guys!

I just spent a goodly part of my lunch period reading this thing. I find the original question interesting and the various tangents entertaining, especially in light of trying to get an afternoon's worth of freshman to stay simultaneously on topic for more than, say 10 seconds.

Since I'm once again late to the party, let me toss in a few thoughts.

First of all, there is nothing wrong with a rhetorical question. The OP could be taken to be a simple inquiry as to whether or not the information about content was known. It was not necessarily a request for the information as originally stated, although many of you took it that way.

Secondly, Patrick G, I'm glad to see you have another fun thread to twist and turn and entertain us with. I just wish I had gotten involved sooner than this since some are suggesting it be locked. I hope it doesn't happen, but rather that it be allowed to die a natural death, as the airplane thread finally did.

Third, my lunch period is about over and I need to visit the little room upstairs, so I hope this thing is still alive tomorrow!
