Mike, 35 years ago you saw lots of Shasta travel trailers, probably because they were just about the cheapest thing you could buy. They eventually disappeared, but then came back in more recent times. I think another company (Coachmen maybe?) bought the name so there's really no connection between the old ones and the more modern ones. Is Coachmen the company that built yours?

I used to ride when in high school. First bike was a Harley 125 2 stroke. Then 125 Suzuki, then got bit by the racing bug. They built a motocross track up the road from me in an old gravel pit. My dad and brother bought a Bultaco 200 from an ad in the paper. This bike used to belong to Mike Kidd, the Texas State flat track champ, who raced out of Ross Downs, an old horse racing track near what is now Colleyville, Tx. Raced for a couple of years till crash almost killed me. Came off of jump, front tire and bottom of forks slid off of top half of forks, hit ground head first. Cracked skull, deaf in right ear, unconscious for 7 days. Fine now (my interpretation), my wife says I have stupid spells occasionally. Life is an adventure, for sure.

Funny, my wife USED to say that too. I stopped her dead in her tracks one day when I replied that my stupid spells occasionally ended with the words "I DO".....;)

FWJ, yes, it is called a dab, or dabbing when you touch with your foot.

That picture was from just up the road from you, Saddleback East. (Carrolton Ky.)

Here is another one I like, it is David Chaves in California. That is the other guy (the one on the right) spotting for Dean in the earlier picture. Funny thing with kids, I had been telling Dean all weekend that he could do that obstacle, he would not do it, David (one of Dean's hero's) walks over and says, "Dean, YOU DO WALL!" (David is spanish) Dean jumped on his bike and did it no problem :)

Hey Bird, bet the police bikes don't follow this line ;)

That's a cool picture. A friend of mine had a Beta trials bike for awhile and after a couple of years decided he wanted a seat. He sold it and bought another Beta that has a similar engine, maybe different gearing but, it had a seat.

Yep - got one each. Mine is a '89 FLHS and hers is a '92 FXLR. Last year was the worst for riding ever. Only got in 300 miles. Working = good riding weather, off days = bad weather. Those were the times when we were not working on the property. OBTW, one of the reasons we moved out here was so we could get more riding without a 40 mile ride to good roads.

This will change for '07 as I have a cousin's son getting married in eastern NC and a cousin getting remarried in SE Colorado the following weekend. I made the necessary schedule swaps to get time off and I will be doing on the bike.

Saddleback East is the "home" for the club I was formerly in. (Woodsmen M.C.) We had a club grounds in Rosewood Indiana. It was a leased farm. We lost the lease. A couple members devised a plan where we could buy Saddleback (Named after the famous mx track in California) I quit racing and dropped bikes cold turkey the spring the club grounds was bought. I unloaded my bike there one time. The place was one giant obstical course.

Small world........

I'm trying to recall the name of the guy who was "top dog" in trials when I was still active in racing. Seems like it was Jodi or Jordi Torres???? (1991)

Yep, Jordi Tarres, and on the US scene it was Ryan Young, who is still there in that area (Shelbyville) and the Sherco Importer. Brad Baumert is a name you probably recognize, he is a good friend of ours as well.

If you ever want to give it a try, let me know, we can put you on a bike and let you play sometime.

Champy on these boards is part of the Stoney Lonesome crew as well.
