I've seen a few brands (or models) mentioned in this thread that I'd never heard of, but so far I haven't seen anyone mention the Zundapp which was my first motorcyle, while the first motorcycle I ever rode was a friend's Allstate. Of course, I realize some of you weren't even born in the '50s when I rode those bikes.:D
Bird, my first motorcycle was one of those Allstate 250's.

Yep, Jordi Tarres, and on the US scene it was Ryan Young, who is still there in that area (Shelbyville) and the Sherco Importer. Brad Baumert is a name you probably recognize, he is a good friend of ours as well.

If you ever want to give it a try, let me know, we can put you on a bike and let you play sometime.

Champy on these boards is part of the Stoney Lonesome crew as well.

REALLY small world....! :)

I road a BUNCH of hare scrambles at Stoney Lonesome. I used to really look forward to a 3 hour team race they had every fall. A chance to race AND hang out in the pits all at the same time. They have an awsome club.

I ran most all the district 11 and 15 enduros, 10 and 15' s hare scrambles, Great Lakes Enduro Series, and all the national enduros that time and money would allow. Also did a lot of the GNCC races back in the 80's. I've crashed in 29 states altogether!

I used to ride when in high school. First bike was a Harley 125 2 stroke. Then 125 Suzuki, then got bit by the racing bug. They built a motocross track up the road from me in an old gravel pit. My dad and brother bought a Bultaco 200 from an ad in the paper. This bike used to belong to Mike Kidd, the Texas State flat track champ, who raced out of Ross Downs, an old horse racing track near what is now Colleyville, Tx. Raced for a couple of years till crash almost killed me. Came off of jump, front tire and bottom of forks slid off of top half of forks, hit ground head first. Cracked skull, deaf in right ear, unconscious for 7 days. Fine now (my interpretation), my wife says I have stupid spells occasionally. Life is an adventure, for sure.

Here are the bikes I raced: 1st pic Bultaco 200 Before
2nd pic After
3rd pic Yamaha 250
4th pic Husqvarna 450
5th pic Hodaka 100

The only 1 we owned was the Bultaco, I raced the others for friends.

On an Ultra the heat can be fierce in stop and go traffic. Usually do not ride my Ultra in stop and go traffic a lot. Strictly a travel ride and even then it gets hot with the lower skirts on in the summer. Just something that you deal with or go a little faster on.

Years ago I rode a 450 Honda, and in high school I rebuilt and rode a 38 Indian( sure wish I had that now). In the 70's my brother was sent to England for a year to learn the process for designing radial truck tires. When the project ended the company had nothing for him to do for the next 3 months so they assigned him to their road race tire team and he traveled all over Europe. Strange thing was he hated motorcycles and traveling.

I thought I put this on here yesterday when I added the others. Oh well, gremlins I guess.
