Mounting a Fire Extinguisher

Colestin, This is how I mounted mine, two 4" PVC couplings the bottom has a 1/2" piece of 4' pipe glued at the bottom to keep the extingiusher from falling through also it doesn't catch rain. In a previous post someone suggested shaking it once in a while to keep the material from clumping in the bottom /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Gatorboy, I do have one in my truck under the drivers seat. I don't think I have one in my wife's van though.

I am more worried about a fire with an implement than the Kubota. If a bearing goes bad on a mower or rotary cutter a fire can start fast.

I do the billing for the township fire department here and there have been several farm fields burn from bad bearings in the past two years. If I have an extinguisher close this might save the day.

That's uncalled for. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
First, my tractor is worth more than my car and I'm my more attached to it.
Second, I don't pour fuel into my car from a position on top of a hot engine.
Third. Yes. A friend of mine saved somebody who was trapped in a car by putting out the fire that had started.

Lots of people have fire extinguishers in the cars ...

Yes, I have an extinguisher in my car and hope to add one soon to the tractor. That is an awful pile of money to watch go up in smoke without being able to do a thing about it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

( To those who feel it's necessary to have a fire extinguisher on your tractor ..... do you have one in your car as well? )

Yep.. fire ext. and 1st aid kit in each car/tractor.

I also have an ext in the house ( in a decorative box marked extinguisher) in the kitchen. The barn has an extinguisher mounted on one of the support posts, as well as an extinguisher and 1st aid kit just inside the attached garage hooked to the barn.

Part of carrying a 1st aid kit or extinguisher is to be ready for personal emergencies. the other part is to be ready to help others with emergencies.

Actually I do have one in the wifes van. My other one for the truck got lost in transit and I never replaced it. I have one in the work truck and have actually put out a fire with it.

If you think its goofy, fight a brushfire someday once it gest big. If you think the FD can get into the woods or field fast enough, you are mistaken. I only did that once, and dont want to do it again.

Since I do 90% of my tractoring in the woods, which havent seen much rain in a few weeks, a small ABC bottle isnt a bad idea.
