mounting a winch on front of Kubota

I have a similar problem pulling logs off a mountain side, with limited room to maneuver, and looked into this a while back. There are hydraulic winches available that have a fast line speed, e.g. 30-50 feet per minute. Ramsey and Pierce are two I found.

The 8,000lb Ramsey I found was $1300, which puts it into PTO skidding winch price range to me.

James and Oosik have given very good answers. It's now understandable why you shouldn't,instead of you just can't. I urge the OP to look at the thread I started called Tractor electrical systems. There are some very good answers given there. One in particular is an analogy given by Quicksandfarmer that makes it easier to understand tractors aren't meant to pull a load like a winch. There is also a link to a battery site that is a good read.

I did exactly as you are thinking on my Mahindra Max28xl. I use this $50 harbor freight winch with a brush grabber choker chain for pulling out bundles of scrub. It's cheap. It's slow. But when you have limited space to move the tractor, this is the best option to drag the stuff closer to the bucket. I would not want to use this to pull out true logs though. It's duty cycle is only a few minutes on and then 15 min off. It does have thermal overload which takes forever to cool off and reset.View attachment 408452

Reviving to say thanks for your photo. You never know when something you post might have proven useful to someone else, even years down the line to I thought I'd let you know about this instance. My wife just gave me a winch for my tractor and I was searching to see if mounting it on my tractor was even feasible. I have an RK24 which looks very much like your Mahindra (may be a relative) and your setup looks perfect for mine.
