Mouse poop? Bat poop? What else looks like mouse poop?

Well nobody asked me but I vote for bat poop.
Where I live bat poop was so bad that the sail boat became stained with it.
At night we could see 100's with a flash light at night.

Bats just love buildings like hangers with all the openings. After all a hanger is an open roof to keep snow and rain off of the aircraft without any considerations for heat loss as they are generally not insulated.
Yep, I vote for bats and their excrement.

And I don't need pics. Bat poop is mouse poop but with wings.

Well, it appears to be bat poop. It's roughly in line with the rafters and there is none under the airplane, although there is plenty on top. None under anything. I have never seen a bat there, but another guy says he did in his hangar. I'm going to close up the corrugations along some rafters & see it that changes anything.

If its in-line with the rafters, I'd suspect rats, not mice. One way to tell.... buy one of these Eaton, Jaws rat traps, tie wrap it to the rafter perpendicular, so they have to run across the trigger from either direction, bait it with peanut butter, and see what you get. Should be able to find them at Ace Hardware, Lowes, etc... Model 410. :thumbsup:

Chipmunk doodie looks like a mouse's but ~twice the size and a tad lumpy-looking. (red squirrels' too)
+1 on the rat trap. :thumbsup: Put it (them) where easily reached as some critters are a bit light and won't trip the pan before cleaning out your bait. I hot-glue popcorn or unsalted chips to wooden snap trap triggers and add peanut butter to that. The day they come for another snack and you didn't re-bait it get's 'em at first crunch.

There are brackets to stand up a conibear 110 (body grip trap) on beams, logs, 'leaners' etc that they travel along, a classic set for squirrels. A trail-cam on a trap or bait station may snap one that raids & runs, so you can tweak your bait method. (set cam for multiple exposure) Sunflower seeds are good bait for snaps or the "Jawz" type, and can be glued onto the pan.

To reduce human scent on your traps/bait wear disposable plastic gloves whenever possible. A common human pheromone smells to mice/rats (others too?) like another one all hormoned-up for a fight, and they'll usually (instinctively) pass. (.. in case you wondered why )

(If you have bats, put up boxes for them outside the hangar (usually south/sunny side, btw). They appreciate good outside lighting at dinner-time.)

A week or so ago I was trying to identify the droppings in my attic. After an immage search for "bat droppings", I decided a bat was the guilty party.
