Oh well I just smile as I sit here in my mouse free house (for 5 years) and think about no traps, poision, or work associated with keeping my place mouse free. I just use the little plug in electronic rodent repellers that don't work ;)

I have one in my house that I use to keep elephants out and it has never failed yet.

The true test to see if they really work is to unplug them for a few months and see if you get any mice. If you get mice, then plug them in and see if the mice disappear. Anecdotal evidence is just that. What we need is real scientific proof that they work.
I once saw one in a home that the children raised mice as a pet hobby. The parents said that the device only worked on field mice, not pet mice. :D

Mine also deflect meteorites, fires, burglary, etc as I have not bit by any of these things since I started using the rodent repellers.
I also use them in my workshop and tractor shed.

As I said I just smile as others fight mice :)

Hmm I was ate up with mice when I started using the devices. No mice for 5 years where I use the repellers. The sheds where I have no electricity to run the repellers are still mice infested. And I have 4 cats :( Have to lay off a few of them I guess.

I personally would be very interested in knowing the brand name that you have. I have tried a couple different types and I can assure you they do not work. If you have a brand that is working I would be more than happy to give it a try and provide everyone here with an almost scientific test. My testing procedure would be to quit using mouse traps. If in 6 months I dont see any mouse droppings in the areas that I have mice frequent now I would feel that your brand was vindicated. As matters stand I now catch at least one mouse a week and have for the last 18 years or so that I have lived here. Some of the stuff I have tried to plug up the holes I find have not worked all that well. I am about to test some new methods. ( as in covering the hole with cheap ceramic tiles and let them try to chew through that ) but I will happily put off those tests to try the electric one you reccomend

I have been satisfied with 2 brands . VerminX and Weitech. I tried some first alert brand ones and they sucked. They also seem to repel Roaches as I have had none since I started using them. And my untreated sheds do have roaches. They do not seem to work on spiders and crickets though.
The main thing is proper positioning. they will not work if you block off their field of fire with a couch or something.
I had given up on traps and such as a losing battle before going to the electronic repellers.

One friend tried them and said they were garbage, I went over and repositioned his repellers and within a few days he was a happy guy.

how long you had those cats slowrev?

Oh just about 1 year, and none are house cats, all outside cats.
The mouse problem was gone long before the cats showed up.

A 5 gallon bucket can be used to make a high volume mouse trap. Put in 3" of water, cover the top with heavy kraft paper or 6 mil poly, cut an X in the covering about 2/3 of the way across, dap peanut butter on the points of the X. Place a short board as an access ramp at the side of the bucket. If in an area subject to freezing use antifreeze in the bucket. If there is any potential for pet access use non-toxic antifreeze.
Another option is to skewer a 1 litre bottle w/cap lengthwise with a 1/8" rod so it will spin, dab PB on the bottle (or poke "smell" holes in the bottle & smear PB inside) & secure the 'axle' across the top of the bucket in place of the paper/poly.
If used in warm weather where emptying will be infrequent pour some 5 wt oil on top of the water to suppress the odor of the decomposing mice. If used outside enclose in a cage with openings to permit only target species. MikeD74T

Mike, I just made the bottle and bucket trap, I'll let you all know how well it works, Thanks
Jim
