Want to get rid of small red squirrels (pine squirrels) and am having trouble finding bait that will attract them. Tried peanut butter but they seem to ignore it... What works??

Kind of counter-intuitive there, isn't it?


If you want to deter them, why put out things to attract them?

Just this weekend while camping someone said they get rid of mice using an open top 55 gallon barrel with a ramp for access, a 6" rope hanging down inside the barrel with corn or some other treat for critters in the bottom. Mice are supposed to drop off to get the corn and are stuck there. Not sure if squirrels can jump out of a barrel like that, bu that would be a method I will try next.

I never tried it yet but my buddy said he had about 20 mice in there at one time and had to add water so they would die.

A rat trap baited with peanut butter and embedded sunflower seeds works for me. A small lead pill also works good.

I use this for the greys that decimate our bird feeders

I've got 2 outside cats that love to hunt moles.

I'm probably going to get me one more outside cat. I'm hoping that will deter rodents from camping out in my tractor.
