Moveable/Removeable Lights

powershop... I think you created a run on lights and magnets at Harbor Freight. I placed an order on Wednesday and they are on backorder. The guy that took my order said "for some reason we've been selling a lot of these lately".

Maybe you should ask for a commission! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

LOL....It is a great idea and simple to do. I just need some wire and I'm done.

I don't know if it makes a big difference or not but I cushioned the lights. I grabbed a couple rubber grouments and put one between the light and the magnet. pics to follow.

Same here,

I put my order in and they said no problem, we have them in stock.

Guess what, I won't get mine shipped until the end of February.

Oh well have this far will just have to wait.

The rubber grommet sounds like a good idea. I think that I have some that will fit.

Well I can tell you the idea WORKS! plowed snow all night and they worked great. But if we keep getting 28" snow storms I NEED A BIGGER TRACTOR. But the BX2200 never quit it was just a slow process.

For those that may be interested, Harbor Freight has the light kit in their current sale catalog for one half off ($7.99). My lights were backordered so I called them and they adjusted the price.

If you want to order them refer to item 37349-6RWE in catalog number 741-F/Spring 2003.

I just checked on my order again, was told the end of Feb. Now it won't be until the end of March.

So I canceled and have found some really close to ones at HarborFreight at Wal-mart. So I picked them up and just have to get some magnets to mount. Haven't had time for that yet.

They told me that my lights are scheduled to ship tomorrow. The magnets will not ship until March 12.

Probably not as neat as your setup, but the box just came from Gempler's with a worklight that I'll try on my Power Trac as soon as I mount a 12V cigarette lighter outlet.

Charlie,

That same set can be purchased at Wal-mart for about $5.00 less if you don't have a Gempler's. I was going to buy that set but saw another set at Wal-mart that I liked a little bit better. It came with your permanent switch but it did not have the cigarette lighter plugs on it. I really want to wire mine in so when the switch is off so is the lights. I also want to put a flat bar connector on it so I can run my electric pump off of it to. Just plug the lights or the pump in to the flat bar electrical connector.

I'm one of the few Americans without a WalMart close.
I like the idea of a connector for multiple uses. I need to get a decent breaker, a place to mount it and decide on the connector. I don't have any other 12v accessories yet, but I suspect some may turn up. One interesting one is an old 9.6 volt portable drill. Replacement battery costs more than a new drill, but some wire and a plug to run it on the 12V costs little, and I understand really works well - at least until the smoke gets out. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Charlie,

Before I got my tractor I had purchased a sprayer that mounts on an ATV. It has a 25 gallon tank with the heavy duty electric pump. I am having a friend weld me up a frame to make that a 3 point hitch set up along with the 15 feet boom. I already checked into converting it to a PTO pump but found that to be more expensive than what I paid for the original tank, pump and boom. When the electric pump goes out then I will buy a pump that goes on the PTO at that time.

Some electric stuff is as good as pto or hydraulic, and can be a lot cheaper. You may end up staying with electricity even when some repair is needed. For sprayers and some spreaders it works pretty well.

Just to let anyone interested in this setup that Harbor Freight has the magnetic grounding blocks on sale for $3.99 (here at least) until Nov. 15th. I bought two today and mounted a light on one of them. Thanks for this original post information.

Just checked the HF website, they have them on sale 7.99.

On sale online at $7.99 and on sale in the store for $3.99. Sounds like it might be worth stopping at the store. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I bought the lights and magnets from Harbor Freight. But your moveable lights have a black pre-coiled cord that did not come with my lights. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Where did you get the pre-coiled cord? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Thanks for the help. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Danny, that's the regular price and I got them at the store for the $3.99. I didn't even know the price was going be lower when I went, I was just going to buy them at reg. price.
I also found they had a lot of other goodies on sale in the store that were not listed on the e-mail sale from the website.
The stores are supposedly independently owned, so the sales are not always equal. Also, most of the stores will apparently honor any website sales if you bring them the item numbers. As for the coiled cords, you can buy them from Radio Shack and other electronic outlets. I just bought straight wire and a cigarette lighter plug for mine as I installed a 12V power outlet and a double receptacle to plug in a moveable white light and a moveable Amber Strobe. The double receptacle has a 10 amp fuse protection and came from Radio Shack, price not remembered! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif John

You might want to see if the local Harbor Freight store has a mailing list. I get a flyer about once every other month that has the in store specials.
