moving a building

Pay the man. The pros have articulating trailers and mules to safely move large buildings and can place them on a bulls eye. I've had them move buildings for me many times and worth every penny.

okay this might end up in Hauling or Towing Something Wrong thread, but I was told about a deal on a 14 x 36 building, it's only 5.2 miles from my house and only 2 miles on a main highway the rest is a back road. The building mover wants 1800 dollars to move the building but I have a 14K 20 foot trailer and it sounds like a terrible idea for me to even consider but at 1800 dollar savings I am tempted. I could put an escort front and rear and would only be on main road 10 minutes at most, but would my rear tires even be on the ground?

Only $1800 to move it? Why consider doing it yourself.

$1800, pay the price, have a beer when they get it to your location.

Maybe. I used previous posters 120 pounds per square foot and did the math.
I was told that but after doing some research I found 20 pounds per square foot to be more realistic if the inside is not finished. I figure about 11,000 pounds.

Another concern is the concrete slab.

If you pour the slab in preparation for the building, make sure it can handle the weight while the trailer it is delivered on rolls over it.

That's a lot of weight on 4 tiny tire patches. You will know in a couple years if the ground compaction and concrete strength is lacking.

I was told by the building mover that he would have to check some data base to make sure it is paid off before he would agree to move it. Wish I could check it, I guess I'll wait till I hear from him. The building looks in good shape but it shows signs of being moved a few times when I asked him about it he said him and a buddy loaded it on a rollback but couldn't move it and the inside is partially finished.

Not sure how tall it is but it is a single height, I have moved a few smaller buildings and gazebos, yes it is a portable Graceland building, I think for a $1000 I would let someone else move it.

portable Graceland building

Those look like nice buildings. Looks like about the biggest size they make.
They do a lot of rent to own, so yes, probably want to make sure it’s paid for.

I moved my 12X16 this summer. NO WAY would I consider moving a 36' building. Especially with a trailer that much shorter than the building. Pay the man!

I want to move my 12x16 shed on my land. Unfortunately I did not build it with skids under it. I’m debating on ways to put skids under it so I can drag it.
I also need to remove a back lean-to shed from it first.
