( Is PVC pipe another way to get it rollin'?

Yes PVC will work. I dont know what your surface is but if its very solid and fairly smooth it will work well other wise the pipe might distort and give you some trouble. I have used PVC to move 1000# on concrete. Its the easiest way to move a transformers and switch gear inside an electric room /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am thinking that 10' is a pretty big span, worst case you can try it and if it does not work you can get some steel pipe three pieces will work but for pvc I would use 5 to distribute the weight better. )

I'm moving it 10' on grass (see attachment).

( I moved a 10 x 10 shed that had been built on cross ties. I used my B 7500. I had a 3 point carrier on my 3 point hitch. I raised the shed and backed the carrier under it. I then run a load strap around the base and drew it up tight. I moved it about 70 feet. I had plenty of traction by raising the carrier and keeping just enough weight on the front end to steer. )

What is a "3 point carrier"?

My firewood is stored on 2 pcs of 4" PVC for 2 years now and it is still sound. Wood is stacked 4' high so I believe is pretty heavy. I think it is schedule 40.
My shed had two 4X running the length of the shed. I drilled a 1/2" hole in each one and bolted chain to it and the FEL which allowed the tractor to lift the shed up to enable it to roll on the fence posts.

I did not even notice the attachment /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif My fault, going down hill it looks like I would use the largest size you can get hold of. 4" would be ideal, but 2" should work. I would cut the grass as short as possible. You could also put down some 2xs as runners for the pvc and it should roll right along. Just take your time /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Be careful when you get it up on the first pipe it will want to roll on you and that could case some pain.

Thanks to all of you. Many ideas and options. Viva tractorbynet!

It is an attachment that I bought at my local farm store. It was actually just a frame that I put a floor on. Thus I could carry things on it.

What will you be "pushing with the tractor" with? The FEL?

I imagine with the rollers reducing the friction I can push with my rear blade using a 2x piece of lumber or an old tire as a bumper.

Nice spread! I lived in central NJ for 40 years and there used to be farm land all over. Thats why it was called the garden state-not anymore. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thanks. We have 7 acres in an area that still appreciates preserving farmland. It's amazing how much of NYC has sprawled into the Garden State.

I recently moved a 12X12 shed that I bought from a neighbor that was moving. I put 4X6's underneath with the leading edge miter cut to act like a skid. At first, I put long lag bolts into the 4X4's that made up the front frame of the shed, but found that lag screws put into the top of the skids worked better. In fact, I started to use 1/2 inch eye bolts, but straightened out the eye on them. If you have a boom pole that you can use to lift up the front edge it will help a LOT!

I was using a 35 hp Massey Ferguson 1235.
