You should have seen the encounter with my neighbor when one of his boys decided with some other friends to ride their ATV's on my property (funny enough, they took one 8' section of barbed wire that was "cut" to access the property). Thanks for clarifying that Sig. I wasn’t sure if the trespassing raccoon hunters were in your bed sleeping, their dogs, or the racoons themselves were in your bed. Either way I had an image of a violent but funny encounter.
Neighbor wasn't too happy that I was having a shooting session with a a range out back from back of the house, but my wife just got out of major surgery and was upset by the noise the ATV'ers were making easily understanding that they were in our back yard.
End of the day although the neighbor was upset I was shooting when his son and some friends were riding ATV's on my property. After time he understood and we are still good friends. Ironically enough after I re fenced that 8' barbed wire section a couple of days after I was having a shooting session, not once since that time has any ATV's been riding on my property.
Just so happens the coon hunters caught me in a spur of the moment shoot session at night as well (when I hear shooting at night or people on my property, for some reason just want to use my range).
That said, another neighbor asked me about the shooting the day after, and I explained to him that if no one tells me when they want to be on my property, I'll have a shooting session. Ironically after that no more coon hunters on my property.
Go figure...
Simple rule, respect other peoples property, be it land or material things.
