Moving crushed stone ???

Two tips. First of all, have weight on the 3PH and carry the load as low as you can. This will help keep all 4 wheels on the ground.

Also, I had much better results using the loader without the toothbar attached.................chim

I've spread a lot of rock with my little B2710 with loader and box blade, so you shouldn't have any trouble.

What's a stone shooter?

It is a huge 40 ton truck with a 20 ton capable hopper and two conveyor belts. One at the bottom of the hopper and one on a hydraulically controlled 20 foot long ramp. When the operator opens the hopper stones fall on the low speed belt below the hopper. Stones are conveyed to the second belt on the ramp that can be elevated and trained and speed controlled by the operator. You can see one on the bottom of the page at this link Stone Shooter It was highly recommended by a contractor friend and it was a great time saver.

That stone shooter gizmo is pretty cool. I haven't seen one before. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Mad Mark,
Hey, I'll come over and do it for ya--what kinda tractor do I get to play with...errr work with! It is easy and fun...really. This is not one of those nasty jobs. Although I think stone throwers are awesome (and some of those operators are true artists with those things) I think a regular tandem load will be fine. Either way you'll have a littl final spreading to do. If you want a "perfect" surface try a landsacpe rake for the final. Personally I think a driveway needs to be good and funtional and not perfect...i.e. I'm happy driving the tractor but I don't want to get off of it and work by hand!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Have fun,
Peter

That looks pretty cool, never seen anything like it around here. I was envisioning a stone cannon of some sort. The pro landscapers here are using a blower system to lay down mulch now. Kind of like an insulation blower on steroids. Feeds the mulch through four inch soft corrugated hosing. They can do an entire subdivision home with the truck parked on the street.

I suppose my version of a stone shooter could be somewhat dangerous /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
