A while back Egon and Henro posted pictures of their machines with BIG Rocks in the buckets .I've lost that thread .
Well I've got a few to move . I have hooks on the bucket and grade 70 chains . But I'm not real sure as to go about it safely . Any hints or pictures would be a great help . John

I usually move large rocks using the three point hitch with the bucket loaded with smaller rocks. This allows me to put downpressure for traction on the rear wheels and still keep the front wheels on the ground and pulling.

Going downhill at a slight angle can be exciting if the rock decides to to go off at an angle and take the tractor with it.

The picture you saw of the big rock in my little tractor's bucket was mainly for show. I could just lift the rock but normally would drag it.

if they are to big to fit in the bucket, just chain then to the bucket or the 3pt. and drag them where u want them. i had a few that i dug out but was not able to fit them in the fel, so i just rolled them along with the fel, course i only had to go a few hundred feet to get them out of the way.

I liked that idea of tippin' 'em over onto an old car hood and draggin' 'em to whereever. There was an old truck hood here when I bought the place. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks for the responses and tips ! I have to move the selected rock up a publicc road . I sure as heck don't want to drop it on the road and cause someone to get hurt avoiding the rock or me /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The rock will fit in the bucket ,and the fel will pick it up without difficulty . It just balances way forward in the bucket to be really safe to transport very far . I'm sure there are 10 ways to chain it into the bucket . But with my liuck 9 of them will be unsafe ! I'm new at this whole thing and would like to do it right and safe the first time , hence the original post . The Car hood idea was Great /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif But I think the neighbors might find it a bit odd /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif John

If you're moving rocks up a public road then I would suggest trying to get them into a trailer of some type, so that they are enclosed and can't get away form you. I've moved alot of big rocks lately and the FEL idea is ok for ones which will fit and can be chained but you run the risk of overloading the front tires and possable cosing damage, besure to NOT be in 4 wheel drive when FELing big rocks as the added traction can cause some serious problems to the Front end workings. lately Ive read a few good boad things happening to front ends due to FEL and road abuse .
