Any of the New Holland TN series could easily handle these bales with the quick attach loader and a set of spears. The loader capacity when not going up to high is over 4000# The New Holland TC48 or TC55 would also probably work.
[/list]

Kind of a BIG machine for 4 acres of pasture and 30' x 100' gardens.

I'm thinking that this fella should maybe look at getting smaller bales!!!

Lastly, if you're gonna try this with a tractor of marginal size, do not forget to consider your terrain. With a large CUT or small utility tractor, unless your transport routes are pancake flat and relatively smooth, you are decreasing the margins and increasing the possibility of infury to you or your machinery or both.

CCI ... how does one get that bale into that buggy? Can you roll up into it with FEL or sumpin?

( Why don't they make ring feeders that are joined half circles with hinges on one side and latches on the other and wheels on the bottom of the moveable half so that you can open it up, back your 3-pt hitch lifted bale in, drop it, drive out and close the feeder? Or do they? )

They do! I got mine from Winkel . It comes in three pieces with pins to keep it together. I move small rounds with a 3pt bail spear with a TC29. I also have a clamp on spear for the bucketa and the TC29 is at its limit as far as the loader lift capability and stability.

Yeah, cowboydoc mentioned their existence above. It figures they already exist because I have the ingenuity of a rock, so if I thought of it.... cowboydoc also pointed out the virtues of the front-loader round-bale drop and drive when it is 20 below!, which I can certainly appreciate.

Oh wait! The brain is clicking......what about a remote controlled, motorized, self-opening feeder? Click to open. Back in. Drop the bale. Drive out. Click to close. All from the cozy warmth of the tractor cab! And they say farming is hard. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was looking at the total size of the proposed fenced in area and the weight of the bales. the total area fenced will be 19 acres. 19 acres is certainly big enough to support a TN. I routinely use mine on 1 acre plots. I think the size of the tractor has more to do with what you're doing than the size of the plot. I have gone from a Deere 70 to a Ford 1710, to a Ford 2120 and now the 2120 and the TN75D. While the 750 and the 1710 did a lot of work there is no comparison between them and the 2120 and TN is terms of safety and how much work you can get done. If I had to move those bales all winter, I'd want to be in my TN with a nice warm cab even if I was only working an acre. Smaller bales is certainly an option if they are available.

You back up to the bale and the Tumble bug hinges in the middle back up to the bale and a hook trips over into the bale. Now you turn the electric brakes on for the tumble bug and pull forward. The bale will be pulled into the cradle when the tumble bug unfolds. Turn the electric breaks off and you can travel down the highway safely at 60 MPH with a bale.

It's tough to find much smaller bales unless you are doing your own. Some guys make 4x4's but not many.
