In the first picture we cut through the fence (they could not make the turn through the front gate) and we are off on the 19 miles to Mike's.

Hi Don,

Great pictures.

I'm trying to remember this building. Where was it? Is this the one you were living it?

Over the highways and through the small towns and the tightest road was Mike's (the fourth picture). I was glad he did not see the limbs scraping the sides and I wondered how many windows would be broken.

We arrived at Mike's with no broken windows or screens and just a few surface scratches on the rustic walls! A great move. For the mover this was his last move he is also retiring and after three generations all his equipment is going on the auction block this month. A good day.

Mike when you get connected to the internet Please finish this post with the pictures after they put the porches on and the improvements you are making to YOUR cabin!

Eddie, this is the cabin we have been living in until a week ago. I looks different without the porches. Look again at the first picture before they took the porches off.

Thanks Don, I wasn't sure. I'm surprised that you got rid of the cabin, but understand your logic. It's like a really nice tree, but it's in the way of where you want to build something. Sometimes it doesn't matter how big or nice that tree is, you still have to get rid of it.

Where are you living until the house is built?

What's the plan for the new house?

Eddie we are still living on our land. We are living in the "shack in the back" formally cabin #2. It is a 12'X16' dutch barn portable building. The plans for the new house are almost finalized.....but that's another thread........

Don, thanks for sharing. This was quite interesting. You've inspired me and given me a few ideas for replacing the "farm house" we have on our place. It's actually a 14X70 1972 model mobile home that I'd like to get rid of. We've kicked around the idea of moving our house to that spot but that's about as far as it's gone. I like the idea of the layout of your cabin. So the cabin is roughly 16X40 and when you add the two 7 foot porches running full length you end up with 30X40. I like it and love the breezway. The spot I'm talking about putting one like this usually has a great breeze.
Again, thanks for sharing and looking forward to Mike's continuation of the thread and your new one on the new home build.

Don, that looks like a very "easy" job for the mover's last one. That cabin is well built for sure. I'm also sure that your preparation ahead of time was key in the move going so smoothly. Were there any close calls with low-hanging wires or overpasses?
