Moving the cabin

The photos and the movers make it look sooooo easy. :D

I remember as a kid seeing houses being moved down in FLA. Always has amazed me to watch.

I really long the photo with the long horns in the foreground and the house going by. I wonder what they thought seeing the house drive by. :D:D:D

Later,
Dan

Jim, the only low power line were on Mike's place and the movers held them up with extendable composite poles. They had to go through downtown Paige to bypass the low clearance bridge on Hwy 21.

Don, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I had a few more questions about your cabin. What kind of layout did you have? I'm assuming that one side was for living and other was for sleeping? Did you have storage in the breezeway? I've been kicking this thing around "studyin'" on building one of these for myself. Thanks ahead for any info you can share.

jayste, the East side had a bedroom a closet and a bathroom. There were two doors to the East side from the breezeway. One went to the bathroom hallway, immediately behind the door was a stacked washer and dryer, across from the washer and dryer door with a sink and a shower, (wife's bathroom) on the same side of the hallway as the washer and dryer was another door which had the commode and another sink (my bathroom). at the end of the hall was a door that opened to the bedroom. We set it up this way so we could both get ready at the same time and so visitors staying on the other side could cross the breezeway and go to the bathroom without waking us up. Straight ahead was the door to the closet and to the right was the bedroom. Installed on the closet wall was was a drop down ironing board behind a cabinet door. The second door on that side led directly to the bedroom from the breezeway. The East wall had one window in the center. There was one window in the commode room and two windows facing South where the prevailing winds come from. There was no central air or heat.

On the West side there was one door, and on that side there was a desk, Grandma's hutch for dishes, a stove the sink, and in the corner under the counter a 30 gallon, 110v water heater, and a refrigerator next to the sink. On the other half of the room was a dinning table two small couches and a wood burning stove. Behind the WBS was a rock wall and the WBS was sitting on a 2" rock ledge. There were two windows on each wall except the breezeway wall.

The breezeway had shelves for shoes and a bench with storage under the seat, and it was screened in as you could tell.

Both sides had ceiling fans.

The guys will be at Mikes this weekend reinstalling the north and south porches.

Don,

Sad to see the cabin go, But I'm glad to hear it's staying in the TBN Family. I imagine that Mike & Bernice will get many years of use from it.

The porch guys have been delayed by overtime on their regular job. They start tomorrow.
The cabin will be our guest house and hurricane evac location for family in harms way.

Wow! Great pictures.
Another change in retirement.
Will you be in your new home by next year?
