lol. Yeah that trailer with them new sides looks gorgeous. It should be on display and never used. :) Nice work on the sides of the trailer.

Thanks

Maybe I should just buy another trailer and leave that one as a show piece. 😃

My knees still hurt. I think it turned out really nice though.

My Knees Don稚 Like Installing Flooring | homesteaddad

Is that hickory? We had to take out about 3-4 dozen big, mature hickories when clearing for our new house, so we felt like we "owed it to them" to do the floors in hickory. I didn't quite like all the sharp contrasts at first, but have grown to really love them. And some of the other "features" in hickory like our little pet seal below.

Despite having quite a bit of experience installing T&G flooring, I wasn't as brave as you and farmed it out. My knees thanked me!

No, we cheated and got laminate from Costco. It was on sale and was the right price. Since we aren't sure how long we will live in this house before building we weren't looking to invest. I believe the color name was honey maple.

Your floor looks great.

Thanks, yours does too. Can almost never go wrong with Costco stuff.

Costco is one of my favorite stores.

Yesterday I was able to get some outside stuff done. Moving wood, moving asphalt, and then I started work on our patio.

Nice patio. Really like the fire pit. Good find on the fence post. When you get ready for beef get a steer not a bull calf. Also try to get a close age on the calf as you want to slaughter it before its second birthday.

Thanks for the tip on the cattle. My thought at this point is to get a young steer early in spring, let him eat grass until late fall, and then butcher him young. That way I don't have to feed him over the winter. That will also provide us with plenty of meat for our family.

Thanks about the fire out area. I'm still trying to find time to christen it before our party.

Speaking of cows earlier...

Some good stuff. The milk production listed is with full feed. Using less feed will get you less milk if too much is a problem. The cost of rich food for milk cows is something to think about when you are crunching the numbers. And back in the day, any cow breed could be an oxen. When my dad was a youngster they used Florida Cracker cows as oxen. He got to plow with the mules and my uncle had to use the oxen because he couldn't handle the mules as well.

Thanks Larro. One of the things that I read about Dexters is that they are supposed to do great on an all grass diet. Either way, I am figuring that between sharing with a calf and grass diet I should be able to figure out what to do with the milk. Even if I have to get creative that would be fine.

It's funny how things get labeled as a meat chicken or laying chicken, meat or wool sheep, meat or milk cow, etc. Like you said, back in the day everything was multi purpose. We are pretty spoiled in that we can choose exactly what purpose we want a breed for.
