I don't know if anyone else has posted this idea, but it worked well for me. In mid-season I like to sharpen the blades on my 7-Iron deck, but it's heavy and difficult to remove and reinstall. Driving up on ramps gives enough clearance to remove the blades, but it's a pain trying to wedge a wood block into the blades to prevent them from turning while you loosen or tighten the mounting bolts.

My solution is to attach a length of 12/2 electrical wire to a chain grab hook, slip the hook onto the mower blade, and wrap the other end of the wire around something atop the mower deck...it works GREAT.

I am /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif at myself for not thinking of this trick years ago.

Or just use the good old air gun to whizz them off!

Do you have the 60'' 7 iron mounted on your 4000 series tractor? I had one on the 4300 and it cut the best cut you could ever want.
