Steve, I had one of the Central Pneumatic 1/2" impacts, too./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif It was only rated for 250 ft./lbs. and would usually remove lug nuts, but I found lawnmower blades that it wouldn't budge. And I still have a Central Pneumatic butterfly (3/8" impact). No power, but it's fast on easy stuff. If I really needed a 3/8" impact, I'd throw it away and get an Ingersoll.
And like most repair jobs, air tools can be a little daunting at first, but they're actually usually pretty easy to repair if you can get parts at a reasonable price. And if it came from Harbor Freight you're lucky if you can get parts at any price. Snap-on is no better, no worse than Ingersoll Rand or Chicago Pneumatic, but they're really proud of their parts./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
But of course, unless you're a professional mechanic using them every day, most of them will probably last a lifetime if they get proper lubrication and no dirt and moisture in them.
