Hi all

I've got a 6' finishing mower (3 rotors) it came originally with one piece blades but I'm thinking of converting it to swing blades as these are so much cheaper to replace. Has anyone got any advice/thoughts on this.

Regards

Chris

Chris, where do you find swing blades for a finish mower? I've never seen that.

Hi Bird

The finishing mower I've got is an Italian model (Sitrex) and here in Australia they supply them with either 1 piece or swing blades, I bought the one piece on advice from the dealer but I think it was because it was all he had in stock.

This site shows one of the Sitrex finishing mowers. Nothing about swing blades, but that doesn't mean they don't have them for this or another model. The idea is interesting, but I would think the spindle would have to be much stronger to take the potential punishment. A photo of the swing blades would be great.

Swing type blades to replace standard blades are produced by a company called Meg-Mo. Website at www.meg-mo.com

hi beenthere

I don't have a photo of the blades, but the dealer who supplied the mower tells me at least 50% of these mowers he sells have swing blades fitted, I don't really understand what you mean about the extra punishment as the whole point of a swinging blade is to offer much more give with obstructions etc. both my 6' slasher and my sthil hand mower have swing blades.

Thanks for the information, Chris. They may be available in this country, too, and I don't know whether they would be any better or worse; just have never seen or heard of them for finish mowers. I'll have to try the site Jack listed.

My concern is much less now that I looked at the site that showed the swing blades. The four blades on a disc look great, and I might try to get something like that. Thanks for posting.
