I'm about to make about 4 acres mowable.
Brush hog?
Tow behind for my lawn tractor?
Something else?

what are you asking here ? are you asking how you can make that 4 acres mowable or long term ? what is the condition of the field ?

as above, not sure what you're asking, but once it is mowable, a zero turn is your best bet. We have 6 acres, tractor and zero turn, and zero turn is best for mowing once it reaches that point.

Sorry for the confusion.
The 4 acres is going to be mowable.
I'm looking for advice on how to mow it.
I have a tractor.
I have a Husqvarna riding mower with a 54" deck.
I have a quad I could tow something with.

I mow 6 acres each week about half of it is done with a ZT (the smooth part) and the rest with a finish mower on the tractor where the ZT will beat you to death.

well you have many options, your riding mower is probably not one of them at least initially, but depending on your location or field / area conditions and terrains you ether could get (purchase or renting) “brush hog” / rotary cutter on the 3 point and mow it one or two days it could be done depending on the condition option two is getting one with a independent motor and tow it behind your quad … or you could spend a week with your husqvarna tractor cutting it at multiple height ….

I have a ZT, 60" brush hog and 72" finish mower. If the job is big enough, the finish mower is by far best option for me. 60" ZT does a nice job but beats the heck out of me on bumpier fields.

Another suggestion- I have 4 acres also. My mowing for most is my tractor with a belly mower. More control than a brush hog.

It depends how smooth the ground is. It's a lot to do with a 60" zero turn or even a 72". I would want to be in my tractor, but it depends on the shape of hte field. If you can make long strait passes, 3pt finish mower, if there's a lot of stuff to mow around, zero turn.

What will you be using the space for?

If it is smooth ground, a zero turn. If not, a tractor rotary cutter. MMM on a tractor would be my last choice, especially if the ground is rough, the grass is dry, or there are weeds to cut.
