Mowing acreage.

Here in North Georgia : you’ll be Invaded with Field Rats IF you let grass grow tall & thick.

Keep it mowed weekly or Bush Hogged monthly & you won’t have a rat problem.
You keep it clear an acre around your place and the birds of prey will feast on the rats. Maybe special for north GA, make it 2 acres.

Coyote would keep them in check here.

True but birds & coyotes can’t get to the rats in waist hi grass.

I got badly infested with them here at home eating all the insulation out from under hoods & firewalls of 2 vehicles sitting on the carport.

I remedied that problem buying a 15’ Batwing Bush Hog keeping the hay field cut twice a month

Your yard must be butter smooth if you can mow 2acres in 30 mins with a 60” ?
i have made it that way with my 4' roller, I can mow at 11mph, full speed. There are 3-4 bumps in the yard but I know exactly where they are. I do the perimeter 2 passes, then up and down in strait shots. It used to take me hours on my cub low boy, this is night and day.

My farm ground is way too rough & grass too thick to mow fast.
Too hard on eqpt

for those who complain of rough zero turn ride, ft & rear suspension is the way to go. i can't afford. but my commercial 54" does well on 4 ac plot around 3 ponds
(plus a walk behind zero turn for steep dams)

don't see much mention here of feral hogs. now there's a rough ride, fortunately, not a problem for me, but these hogs aren't going anywhere. i'm sure more manu are making suspension rides, but they're rare even on commercial equip, regards

It takes me 9hrs a week to mow.
I mow 3-5hrs at a time weather & farm work permitting.

Kubota ZD1511 72 SD deck 1505cc 4cyl Turbo 30.8hp
& it still bogs pulling my steep hills & banks View attachment 872423

I’ve currently bought a front deck F3710 36.9hp with same 4cyl Turbo engine & 4wd for traction.

Zero with front weights View attachment 872424

Fluid Filled rear tires & 140lbs of brackets & weights up front.
Rides way better, doesn’t rare up & helps with traction on banks
Mine is bumpy as fuaaaaa, and I can do it easy with a 72" Ferris. I have no hills or anything like that to deal with, just some terraces. You can mow, and get a good cut going as fast as the machine will go. Really a time savor.

Who's mower? I am so impressed with the Ferris I am just floored at how well it does.

This is the video that sold me, yes it has a great deal to do with how the suspension is setup but when it is setup for your weight, it is really this kind of difference.
