Mr. Moron mired in muck

Dark Side? We live in Mo.,in the middle of farm country.I have a cousin by the name of Robert.Robert owns and operates over 3,000 acres of land, most of which is River bottom land. All the ground in the "bottoms" is protected from flooding by levees. These levees were built by him at his expense, not DNR or Corp structures. In the summer months when its dry the local Morons go out and do a little 4-wheeling on peoples private land in the bar ditchs of the levees.Understand, Robert has invested a LOT of money in his land and a LOT of money in planting his crops. He has been plagued with trespassers, pouchers, trash dumpers, you name it.He has built expensive entrance gates and done about everything you can immagine, trying to keep these idiots off his property.Well, one Saturday night the Morons went out to tear some stuff up,and literally buried two pick ups in one of his bar ditches.Sunday morning Robert and his wife were out looking over the crops when they spy these trucks stuck in the muck up to the bottom of the windows.Robert calls the county Sheriff and asks him what he could do about this and what were his rights.Sheriffs reply,do whatever you want,it's you property, you'll never hear a word out of us.That's all it took, about 1/4 mile away sits Roberts Trackhoe, now this a specialty hoe with about a 60 ft. reach and a big bucket, designed for cleaning out drainage and levee repair. In just a little bit he grabbed the first truck and has flipped it over about 4/5 times and drags it out the edge of the field. He rolls the second truck over 4/5 times and sits it right next to the first. After getting them positioned where he wants them, side by side,he walks the hoe up and over whats left of these two trucks. Before he flattened these things he got the licence numbers off both trucks, his wife called the Sheriff back to find out the owners.Sheriff called owners(two kids) still living at home with mom and dad,and told the parents they better get the kids toys out of this guys field while they still could, not knowing what had already happened.Well, when everybody started showing up,including the Sheriff, the poop hit the fan.Sheriff basically told parents and kids they were S.O.L. They had abandoned these vehicles on this mans property, and he was justified to do whatever he saw fit.And that was it.Robert and his wife returned home, brought back a 4 wheel drive Deere, hooked on to the scrape, and pulled them out to the county road off his property and thats where they lay.First thing Monday morning a flat bed car hauler shows up,wenchs these two "things" up on the bed and off he went. There was never another word said about this incident,at least not from the kids or the parents.Needless to say,Robert has not had any problems with Morons and the like for a couple of years now.

Richard,
I meant you were decent to pull him out at all. I would have waited too and if he had any attitude might have just left him to the mercy of the tow truck drivers. Guess my dark side is pretty dark too. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
We had a problem a few years ago with our family farm up north. People from the city would come up and get their trucks buried trying to drive out to some ponds to go fishing in the spring. They would then walk down and ask my cousin to pull them out. They didn't have permission and would tell my cousin they heard the land was CRP(it wasn't). None had permission to fish or even be there at all. I don't know about you but I don't have that kind of nerve(stupidity). After some stern words including mention of trespassing and the sheriff, the problem stopped. What are these people thinking? The way to get fishing privileges is to ask the owners for permission, leave the land better than you found it, and offer to help the farmer/landowner with whatever help he might let you do. It helps to share the catch with him too. I guess this stuff was instilled in me at an early age and I expect others to act accordingly. Probably a silly expectation. Sorry if I'm getting off topic here but I've lost my tolerance for people who think they can go on anyone's land any time they want.

The Pooping Quebecer

A few years ago in late autumn, a car drove past my house about five in the morning. It's a dead end and clearly posted, but the car didn't come back down. After several minutes I released my dogs just to let the fellow know I was awake. Usually the dogs woof a few times from the porch, but this time they really went off, barking and growling furiously.

We'd had a dog quilled by a porcupine that month, so I grabbed my rifle and ran outside. Found the Quebecer taking a dump next to my wood pile, surrounded by my very angry dogs. Poor fool was trying to pull up his pants without getting anything bitten off...then he looks up and sees me wearing only Ugg boots and boxer shorts, carrying my Marlin .35. I called the dogs off, got a shovel, and scooped up the poop. Put it right on his passenger seat then waved the barrel of that mini-cannon down the hill. Didn't say a word and neither did he. I still remember that the poop was steaming in his seat. Don't understand why he never came back for a visit.

Re: The Pooping Quebecer

Talk about getting caught w/your pants down.
I'm willing to bet he will never return nor forget that road.

Re: The Pooping Quebecer

That is one of the best stories I have heard in a while... It really does my heart good... It gives me hope that some day I may be able to catch my pooper. At the county bridge down at the edge of my property some one stops there about once a month and walks about 30 yards back up my old field road and does his business... He is a very thoughtful person for he brings his on paper.... Some day.
