I was clearing an area for our new chicken palace, had gone over it 2-3 times when the ground decided to liquefy. Used the backhoe to lift up the back end so I could get blocks of wood and boards under it. Sure did surprise me though. :D

Again today. I was filling in the trench I dug for the propane tank. I got both tires in the trench and it sunk. I hit groundwater at two and a half feet.

Wow! Lucky you didn't tip.

I tipped my Deere several months ago in a some sand I thought was solid ground. My father in law laid a whole lot of sand (apparently in a low spot) near our garage on a hill. I was moving some debris going up hill and cut the wheel and started to back out. Sure enough got off center when it caught the sand and tipped to the right. I was able to right it quite easily. I was concerned though since the engine didn't cut off. I was thinking about putting one of those switches some of the 4wd crowd uses to kill the thing if it gets wrong side up.

Nick I put elec underground to my barn
04140002.jpg

I had the elec in this trench and the back hoe and FEL were on and I was hooking up the end from where the pic was taken from. My brother decided to HELP me out and got on to start back filling the trench and dropped one side into the trench... took me a few min to get out but he had it most on its side! what was worse after it was half back filled he dumped too much in and was pulling some down and dug into the conduit and ripped the box off and tore up the conduit... :rolling: SO I hand dug out the spot enough to repair the conduit and check the wires which were OK luckily UN-damaged...

no pics of the tractor in the trench but least ya can see the trench... I hit ground water at about 3 feet normally there is a shallow layer of course gravel/stone that will run water into the trench. this one filled up over night from the water to about 2' down from top. The thing took 3 or 4 trys to pump out prior to being dry enough to get the service in.

I filled the trench from the house to the tank. All that water in the trench moved towards the tank. I drove on the trench closer to the house and was fine. I took the backhoe off and put on the box blade. I had no problems until I hit the muddy side. I couldn't lift the front with the bucket and I was getting deeper turning the tires. I called my neighbor to see if he could opperate the winch for me. He brought his backhoe over instead and it was out in five minutes.

I worked the mud a little bit the next day. I will have to wait until it dries out in the spring.

I had a guy come over to push down some trees. It was a little muddier than he thought.

We got 3 inches of rain in a few days last week. It's been muddy. I didn't think it was that muddy. I've been crossing from the drive to this field for a little while in different areas. Guess I picked the wrong place this time.

that thing sunk so far down, it really looks like the 'front wheels fell off' lol

im sure that was quite a shock with the front end dipped

Was clearing a lot and had run over this spot several times the preceding week. We got a little rain. So, I waited a few days for it to dry out. Obviously, I did not wait long enough. I was close to a small stream that ran along the back edge of the property. So I tried to be careful and not get too close cause I knew the water table was high. I do not know if that was a hidden spring or what, becuase the tractor sank with nary a spin. Took limbs underneath the tires and my jeep anchored against a tree to pull it out:confused2:

Ha! My wife was sure shocked when she saw it. I was pretty sick that day too. It was a pain to get out. Luckily I was able to use the hydros and raise it up enough to place a bridge I made underneath it and drive out. The poor truck needs some locking diffs.
