Not those types of tongues, but tung fruit... They are gathered and the seeds are smashed up to make tung oil. My farm used to be a tung orchard in the 40's through early 60's.

That is one of my favorite wood finishes - tung oil. It takes many many applications - but it leaves a satin smooth hand buffed finish that is impervious to water ring stains. When I say many - 15 or so coats, let dry and re-apply. Buff with a terry cloth towel in between applications.

Still available at well stocked hardware stores.

Got a little too close to a small stream while bush-hogging. 3PH on the Deere didn't hold very well, mower caught on something and once the tires started spinning it was all over.

Pulled an old cook stove out of the woods and found some wet, muddy ground. I was going to scoop the stove up but I ended up pulling it out. Didn't quite get stuck, but i was close. :ashamed:

In 2010 and 2011 we built an extension for a boiler room. That implied heavy construction equipment moving around the house. One of the trucks or excavators must have driven over the second septic tank and broken the top plate. When I drove over it with the 3520, as I had done hundreds of times, it crumbled and I went right through. Took me several hours to lift the back of the tractor above ground level with the jack and put wooden beams under the wheels. The next morning I reversed to have as little time as possible above the water. Then I had to drive the front wheels all across the hole, moving the beams from front to back. Nothing broke. I was lucky the mower deck limited the fall and the tank was not in use.

Ouch! Now that's a serious STUCK!

Back in 1968 we were just getting telephone service and they were burying the line with a D6 that had a direct bury rudder-plow like attachment on back that did it all in one operation. I was ten years old when this was going on, and since it was during summer vacation I spent a lot of time with the crews, even helping to flag traffic when they had to walk the cat across the highway. Things went ok until they had to cross a creek at the east end of the place.Took the better part of a day before they could round up something heavy enough to help out, a KW with a self-loader that was able to pull it upright while they backed it out.

Try working on "dry" ground with no rain for almost 3 weeks. This is on the side of a hill above a barn I was trying to take down. I stopped when I realized the tires would just spin and the ground was liquid 3-4" down. The tractor continued to sink until it rested on the frame and the bb was in the fenders. Couldn't even use the bucket to push it back and out(works 90% of the time.)
