I noticed that another thread indicated that run on was completly eliminated when they replaced the PT muffler with a Kohler stock muffler....less noise would be nice but I really would like to eliminate the backfire on my Robin engine at shutdown for those times I absentmindly forget to let her run a bit before turning the key to off.

I have added the Supertrapp muffler to my 425 also. Definitely quieter and it seems to have eliminated the problem of killing the grass under the exhaust pipe when sitting in one spot for more than a couple of minutes, but I don't see any improvement in the run-on problem with the Robin. Letting it idle for a couple of minutes, then running it up to half throttle just before shutting it off seems to eliminate most of the problem though. I usually just get a small backfire or two doing that. Still frustrating on a new piece of equipment that cost this much money though isn't it?

My stock muffler had the square exhaust outlet that angled away from the tub. I just took it down to a muffler shop and had them cut the square tubing off and weld the Supertrapp to the opening. It sticks out at the same angle as before, and does not seem to add any heat to the tub. It is about 3 and a quarter inches from the tub at the point of discharge, and the angle plus the downward deflection of the discs directs the hot exhaust away from the body for the most part. So far I am very pleased. (Thanks Phils)
