Take a look at the JCB skid steers. They have one that is side entrance that I saw at the national farm machinery show this year.

AKFish - The MeriCrusher you ran, does it have the screen to size the chips? I've only recently heard of the brand but I understand the screen makes a big difference wrt getting the chips small enough to plant into without making several passes. Thanks for the info.

Jim, no screen to size the wood chips on the MeriCrusher that I used. The company has a number of different models. So, I wouldn't know how the others are set up.

Just to clarify a bit more... The MeriCrusher is not directly like a Fecon or ASV. Those machines are more like a chipper/grinder.
The MeriCrusher is more like a roto-tiller on steroids! It does chip and grind some... But the brush/trees are broken down and churned over and buried into the ground leaving a semi-packed seedbed.
They (M-C) has a website with videos that illustrate the machines.
There is one additional, clear difference between a MeriCrusher and a Fecon, etc. You would never want to use a MeriCrusher in a rocky area or anyplace that has outcrops or boulders. You'd destroy the carbide teeth in seconds!
The Fecon head can be "carefully" worked in those areas to clear brush, etc.

Just FYI The first MeriCrusher machines with screen will arrive in North America about June 1. You're correct, the screen can be a game changer.
