I had researched pricing back in the summer with with hopes of buying by November of '07 since we thought our house would be completed at that time. Since the house was delayed I put off buying a UTV.

Now that we are close to moving in our house I am back to getting pricing and test driving. I have told dealers it would be about 2 months before I was ready to buy since I have a lot of landscaping and dirt moving I need to do with the tractor. If I buy a UTV now it will distract me from the tractor work I NEEd to do:) .

I received the following pricing yesterday. All prices plus tax.

Mule 3010: $8799.00
Mule 3010 Diesel: $9999.00

Trans Mule: $9599.00
Trans Mule Diesel: $10,799

Lift kit for dump bed $1199.00 plus installation:eek:

Why is the lift kit so expensive?

Polaris 500 UTV: $9499.00

Lift kit for dump bed $599.00 plus installation.

Kubota RTV900 Worksite: $10,900.00 (Dealer said they just received a price increase).

Kubota dealer also had a used RTV900 that someone traded on a RTV1100.

The used one was sold by them in 2006 but was received Nov.'05. It has 229 hours and a curtis cab with heater. The cab was nice but it was loud inside while driving it around...but it was nice.

Asking price for the used RTV $11,000.00

I still need to look at the JD XUV but I had my closest JD dealer shut down. He was there one week gone the next.

How do these prices look?

What do you think about the used RTV (excellent condition)?

And why is the lift kit so expensive for the Mule?

Is the cab something you wanted? Most people complain about the noise in the cabs of all the UTV's except the RTV 1100. The XUV has a noise reduction kit for their cab (why it isn't standard with the cab is a mystery to me:rolleyes: ). I personally am looking for a UTV for work which would require me to get in and out a lot so I do not want doors in the way. I figure a Canopy and windshiled will be perfect for my use.

Do you plan on using the dump box for hauling material that needs to be dumped? Since I have two loader tractors (one is 6' wide, the other 5' wide) that can move material if needed I can't see paying extra for a lift system. My main use for the UTV is like a off road pickup truck for the farm and hunting.

Are you demoing these machines at your place or just driving them at the dealer? Make sure you take them to your place and try them on your land.

If you can, would you write a small review on each of them as you are testing them and take a lot of pictures showing the dash, storage places and anything else you think is interesting. I am hoping to start demoing machines in a couple months so anything you learn now will help me then:)

I wish I could help you on price but all I have to go by is MSRP pricing I find online. I would think you could knock 10% off MSRP if you buy from a dealer you have dealt with before. But I know some dealers will refuse to negotiate on price with these machines:(

Have fun

Forget the 500, look at the 700. I believe it is a jump from 30 to 40 horsepower and you are getting a 2 cylinder engine. Were you looking at the carb or fuel injected 500? I bought my 700 for $10,500 with the power dump two years ago.

Robert,

I had not really thought about the cab, as like you, I will be needing to get in-and-out a lot. The doors on the Curtis Cab was easily removed. I just thought the cab was nice bacause it was cold and windy yesterday:D . But I really don't think my wife will like the noise level.

I will need the dump box even though I have a FEL on my tractor. Many of the places I need to go will not be wide enough for the tractor.

I do plan on demoing these machines at my property. I have a lot of hills and want to see how they pull loaded and how they brake.

I know the Kubota rep will bring one out to demo but I need to check with the Polaris and Mule dealer. Jd dealer said he would bring one to demo but then he closed:( .

I'll start taking some pics when I go back out to start the negotiations!

I have to see what the final cost is on the house first.

Card or Fuel injected...not sure.

I talked to the guy about the 700 but he said that for what I needed the 500 would be better. He said the 700 was very touchy on the gas pedal and if on grass I would tear-up the yard:confused: . I woudl like to demo both to see which one I like. It may have been that he had more 500's than 700's on the lot.

The 700 has a great reputation and you can get the Browning edition in the 700 (beautiful machine). For what the dealer is telling you I would check it out in his lot. Find some stone or gravel area and stop the Ranger on it. Then take off. Do this two times with the 500 and twice with the 700. First try it like you would if you would take off with your truck. Then try it by hitting the accelerator hard and see how easy it is to spin the tires. Chances are you can do it with both machines if you try but if you take off normally like a car or truck you shouldn't be spinning the tires. I think you are right, the dealer is trying to get rid of extra 500's. But try them both and if the price is right and the 500 will work pocket the extra money.

Price of the Kubota RTV Worksite here is $ 10,500 ~~

Also, take a look at this link, a fellow member made this post a little while ago.... It's impressive as ever ~~~
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/atvs-utility-vehicles/114021-how-much-load-have-you.html

Also, I have a RTV 900, yes, I would like the cab, but , me getting in and out of the unit , the cab wouldn't do me no good.
I work the heck out of mine, but don't abuse it at all !!! I use mine on the farm and doing my hunting / deer management on the plantations & farms.
Our RTV, does not have the dump bed, price on them is $9750, same as the Worksite but no hydro-lift bed ~~~ If you decide on a RTV, make your dealer
swap out the worksite tires for the ATV tires / they will do it at no cost ....

We have had several makes & model of utility vehicles on the farm, all have thier good points, but we are in the process of purchaseing two more RTV's for the farm . For we have found out they are the true workhorses . We love the hydro-transmissions. Love the engine braking on them. Heck, we have not yet found anything this machine will not do. We are very well please with this unit we have ....
Like I said before, they are other good utitlity vehicles out there, but in our applications, we have found that the RTV serves us better than any other machine weve put on the farms !!!! But do try 'em all out, everybodys uses & opinions are different ~~~~

Couple of vids of the Ranger 700XP made by Tractors4u.
Walk around of the Ranger 700XP
Polaris Ranger 700XP Demonstration

The 700XP has 40hp and a top speed of 50mph. 11 inch's of ground clearance.
Gator XUV620i has 23 hp and top speed of 30mph. 11 inch's of ground clearance.
Mule 3010 has 24hp?, top speed 25mph and 7.2 inch's of ground clearance.
RTV 900 has 21.6 hp and top speed of 25mph. 7.4 inch's of ground clearance.

Keep in mind the weight of each vehicle and that all are not all wheel drive.

Hmmm, sounds like somebody wants to get rid of their 500s. It will tear up grass if you are not careful, but it is not that touchy. Now that I have the 589s on my Ranger I have to be extra careful because they are like spinning an R1 tractor tire.
