I don't know about attachments but just a tractor in general was the best thing I ever bought. It sure saves on a lot of back breaking work! I am pretty fond of all my attachments, BB, BH, tiller and finish mower. I have probably used the tiller and the BH the most. When I bought the BH, I was worried that I would not have enough uses for it but that has not been the case. I do wish it was a little easier to get on.

Why did you go with the finish mower and not a belly mower galaxie?

Loader would be the first must have, after not having one for to long until the 790 came along with a loader. Knew I could use one, but found more uses than originally thought of after owning one.

Second, its the box blade. With a box blade you can rough up a spot darn near good enough for a garden, fix a driveway or build one, level land, slope and shape land, remove brush, roots, trees, plow snow or just used as ballast. Its really hard to beat the utility of the box blade. Its the item I wish I had bought years ago...

The tiller is the other implement that seems to hang of the back of the tractor a good while also.

Rear blade, It is a main stay item from somewhere in late November till around the first of March.

Took me a minute to think why you needed a box blade and the rear blade...then I saw where you live. :laughing:

Never used a box blade, but many people on here seem to like it ...sort of a jack-of-all-trades attachment.

Do you have other attachments for the front, or is it just nice to be able to take the loader off?

The loader is my only front mounted attachment. I can put it on or take it off in less than five minutes with no tools. I use it year 'round. For snow removal in the winter. Horse manure, driveway repair, moving and lifting heavy stuff, etc. It is my biggest work saver and most used attachment second to my rear finishing mower. My post hole digger would be a distant third to most used for me.

Grapple for the FEL is a real back saver.

Aside from the loader and backhoe? the 4n1 bucket or grapple on the front on the rear I would say the grading scrapper has moved to the top for me.

FEL, (front end loader) ((requires to have min of 2 hooks on top, for chains)) if ya have a tractor, there is just way to many things a bucket does. vs dealing with wheel barrows, or little carts ya pull through yard.

finishing mower (don't care about type, belly, front mount, rear mount, zero turn mower, etc... just a good finishing mower, that ya don't have to push or walk behind.)

some way to smooth out and level the ground out nicely. either tiller, or plow, disc, and harrow, and/or boxblade, or rear blade, 3pt rake some sort of combination. that fluffs up the dirt nice. and gives a final good level to everything. without need of of a bunch of metal hand raking. and easily toss grass seed out. or plant a garden or like. it is a combination they all have there con's and pro's and what you are willing to live with.

bush hog, sickle mower (for dealing with tall weeds and small size 1" diameter trees/saplings)

FEL, BB (box blade) or RB (rear blade) either one but at min one of them. either for snow, grading, dealing with rock driveway.

hooks or something to hang off 5 gallon buckets, full of tools for a given project. even if it just a pair of pliers, hammer, and gloves for removing pins.
along with ability to store some sort of chain, or strap or something on tractor. there always seems to be a need to pull/drag, move something. were a chain comes in handy for.

BH (backhoes) are not primary, but boy, you can find a lot of uses for them. were the FEL just does not meet up to par.

PHD (post hole diggers), if ya have any sort of fence you need to deal with.

there are just to many attachments that can do multi jobs. some are just better than others at certain things, and take less time vs others. or may require some actual physical labor.

it all greatly depends on your own needs, and projects / upkeep / maintenance you need or want to do. the more often you do something, the more likely you will get a specific attachment geared for that thing. to make things easier and quicker and do a better job. it all takes cash and time. so folks tend to get basics, of multi purpose use stuff. and then as time and cash allow get the more specific attachment things.

Yea like I says, the box blade is something I wish I bought years ago.... the rear blade and tiller came as a package deal with the first tractor and really gave a box blade no thought.....I did not think a box blade was really that useful.... foolish me

As things progressed, I needed to get a little more serious about ripping and moving hard not been worked in years or ever dirt, small stump and brush removal and reshape some ground for better drainage answer= box blade

But the box blade only being a 48 incher, looses out to snow plowing compared to the nice and wide 6 foot rear blade

My QA with 2 buckets and forks. The 60" bucket is great for almost everything but the 50 has the toothbar on it for digging. I am amazed at all the things can do with the forks.

Bobcat at the time did not offer anything wider than 66" and I mow 4 acres so I wanted bigger. They also wanted something like $3k for the MMM and I just could not justify that cost when I knew I could get a rear finish mower cheaper.

I ended up getting a 72" Caroni finish mower off of Craigslist for $400. That allowed my to buy a tiller with the extra money I saved. I would like to find a 84" mower but haven't had much luck finding a used one.

I vote for the grapple too. Makes land clean up a pleasant sit down job rather than a back breaking, skin tearing and generally dirty and painful exercise. Combine a grapple with a bush hog or flail mower to handle brush or a backhoe to handle trees and you have have a nice pasture in no time.:thumbsup:

Impressive looking grapple...do you push the trees over with the tractor, then pull them the rest of the way out with the grapple?
