I have a 3/4" 500ft/lb HF impact wrench for backup... Nothing gets put on with the monster, but I find that it seems to be great for the occasional bolt that seems to have developed a mind of its own. I prefer it to jumping up and down on a breaker bar; the impact seems to crack sticky threads loose with less torque than a big wrench with leverage- not that I have any data for that thought.

All the best,

Peter

Go to the auctions - got many many wrench's, ball peens, multi directional impact generators, (big hammers) channel locks etc. you get the idea

Make sure your impact wrench can handle the torques you will need.
I just went through the process of
Change the fitting on my Lowes 200 ft lb rated impact wrench
String the airline to my truck
Try and undo the nuts (torqued to 150 ft lbs).

No workee :(

Apparently the 200 lbs wasn't really 200 lbs.

It can take more than twice the tightening torque to break a fastener loose. Combine that with inflated tool ratings, and suddenly you may need a "500-600 ft/lb" rated impact.

and don't forget the 3 jaw pullers ... and the steering wheel puller set .....

hot wrenches are nice to have for those rusted on fittings ....

tip for replacing brake lines ... cut the old brake line close to the fitting , then use a 6 point socket and ratchet to remove the fitting
