I cant get my freeze plug out. I have a hole in it but it wont budge a bit.

Take a punch, and try to "rotate" the plug. Be careful though, some sleeves are pretty close, so do not go pounding on it! It just takes a decent tap, but you have to do it offest to get it to flip or rotate. If it does not rotate, try another part fo the plug....basically work your way around the plug until you find a side that will rotate. Once you get it rotated, pull it out with a pair of pliers.

I've always found that a punch on one edge of the plug is usually enough to start to "cock it" in the opening. Once you do that, a pair of pliers becomes your friend. Start pulling. Getting the casting plug out is usually the tough part of a block heater. Once you do that, the rest should be easy. Just make sure to check for leaks when done. I usually use a sealer around the ones I have installed.
As far as your earlier question, the block heater is better. You're heating the stuff that needs it. When you use a hose heater, natural convection takes place and a lot of the heat ends up going to the radiator and it does what it does best.....exchange heat. They help....but the block heater is the best for efficiency. I've got one in my truck, one in my car, and one on the tractor.
As another hint, the one for my car is hooked to a heavy duty light timer. It turns on about 4:00 AM. Car starts and runs like a 60 degree day....and I've got heat before I even realize I'm cold.

Got the plug out. But when it came out its not just an open hole for the plug to flip put for a set of pliers to grab. Its a circle with a cut in the center so that the heating element fits right in.

So i have a small leak right where the plug plugs into the heating element. When i take the cord out you can see antifreeze coming through. Any solutions?

Sounds like a bad heater if its leaking around the plug area. Might be time to take it back for one that doesn't leak. :-(

I am a little confused at your posts describing the removal of the frost plug how the center came out. I would also carefully inspect where you think the leak is originating as they can be deceptive in their origination. Any chance you could post some pictures?
