the M SERIES IS A LOT MORE TRACTOR then the L series I pull a 3 bottom 16'' massey plow it makes the 203 cu in grunt on the 2nd pass bottom line L series are cheaper because they are home owner tractor I had an L3800 traded it in on a 7040

Clearly you haven't got a clue.

The L series is far from a homeowner tractor.

And the MX5100 in question is actually LESS tractor than the L5040 in question.

I suggest next time you do a little research before butting in with your L3800 and 7040 tirade

Well I guess you got me;)

I suppose I could give you credit as your statement was true that an M is more tractor than an L. Its just too bad no one was asking about an M.

As to an L being a homeowner:laughing:tractor, I guess your are tight there to. Cause there are only two kinds of people in this country, Homeowners, and homeless. And since homeless people cant afford any tractor......

Wait, I guess that makes your beloved M7040 a homeowner tractor too. Do you own a home?

But the OP was specifically asking about an L5040, not an M5040. There is a difference.

And I bought my tractor for a different purpose than you. Try navigating your M through the trails in my woods, or treading lightly across the soft areas back there, or being maneuverable enough to...ah nevermind. Waste of breath.

I retired when I lived in Texas. Had 20+ head cattle and small acreage and thought I'd build a retirement home there. But, situation changed, financial pressure and other issues caused me to sell everything connected with the ranch, and moved to 36+ acres in southern Illinois. Family/friends entered into the decision also, being originally from Illinois. I was wanting so much to keep the M7040, really wish I could have, just couldn't swing it, but figured I'd re-buy something in Illinois, once I sold the Texas properties. BUT, I was caught in the bad BAD real estate market, and Texas drought, and did not get the monies out of the properties in Texas I was expecting. Sooo....things like tractors etc go to the back of the list. I really don't think I'm going to be able to do anything until next year...money to tight.

Studying market and thinking smaller is cheaper, just educating myself on what's there. For my purpose in Texas I consider the M7040 just about perfect, but here in Illinois I don't have near the tractor need I did in Texas. I would prefer buying used, but you need cash to do that, and the 0% deals I may have to take advantage off. know

Gosh...you guys get "testy".

Yes I specially said L...5040. I've had an M series...I was on a ranch, cattle feeding, hay work etc. I would not have wanted an L. But here I'm not doing any of that. I'd love an M7040, but got to have justification.

IF...I was younger I would probably get into hay work, and want another M. But getting to old for it. I'll let some else do that. I need to mow field edges, light brush hogging work, driveway work, grapple work, and want to get a sickle bar for mowing around ponds. I think many tractors could fill that need.
