My 2009 deer hunt

Just to share a few pics of my deer hunt. I had 5 tags, one any deer and 4 doe tags. I bagged a buck and a doe in the early season, and two does in the normal season. Have one left over tag to fill in late Jan1-10 season.

Deer seem to be overpopulating Texas this year. It's not uncommon to see 15 - 20 in the front yard in the mornings. Here's a sample of what we're looking at; maybe you could drop down this way next year and help us with the population?

Wow. #1 deer predator in Kansas is automobile probably. There is not natural predator left,foods are plenty and deer are so adaptable critters. They do have "cute Factor"as well helping them.

JC, I know what you mean by that "home processing". Probably for the last 15 yrs I've processed my own deer. The fellow that taught me how allowed how the marrow itself could give the meat a gamey taste. I like the idea of knowing what deer I'm eating.

I've got to tell you those Reubens and that stir fry sure looks good! We just polished off a big pot of chili we made during our last cold spell. Had some good old elk in it. Man, it's hard to beat wild game done right!

Just to keep the guys on my side (legal bribing), I do one or two batches of deer chill for work. That's all the nudging I need to do
