As for the pulley, you remove only the nut and Proteros becomes the nut and pulley all in one. The pulley is welded to a shaft at the top and the shaft is threaded at the bottom.
Just the 54 deck that I am aware needs to use a taller pulley because the deck has the right rear bracket for the wheel in the way of adjusting the pulleys on the blower lower. Not a big deal and I would think Protero will include what's needed in the future.

It would sure be a sweet set-up if you could use that protero deck mounted fan coupled to a Deere high-dump MCS hopper assembly. You would get the benefit of creating a huge debris pile, or dumping in a truck, and the benefit of the deck blower vs the pony motor. I think deck blowers perform better.

Unit 40 I would strongly disagree about the deck mounted blowers. I have a 2305 MCS and a cyclone rake (has a separate motor) (I run them both on the 2305 and have run the CR on a 3320/3720) and pulling (sucking) the grass/leaves clogs far less than pushing it up from a deck mounted blower . I don't think I've ever had to unclog the blower itself on my cyclone rake and when the deck boot clogs I just reach in and unclog it (After shutting the tractor of course). The deck mounted blowers clog all the time and since the blower is in it you can't just easily reach your hand in without having to finagle around the blower. You can disconnect the entire unit but you end up burning your hand on the pulley's, etc. The size of the blowers (in diameter) is much bigger on the non-deck mounted blowers also.

Also, with an external blower you can hook up a 'hand vac' hose and suck up arbitrary stuff out of bushes, etc. You can also use it to 'blow' the clippings to a hard to reach place but that's something I don't personally do.

One thing also is the deck mounted blowers will take HP off of your tractor. On my 2305 I don't notice the extra power it uses as a loss of power but rather a steep increase in fuel consumption. (I probably use 1.5 to almost twice as much fuel when I have the deck mounted blower on). (Blowers use full power just idling, not just when sucking up debris, They actually use 'less' power if you clog them. (Note My cyclone rake uses a lot of Gas also).

In defense of the deck mounted blowers you don't have another engine to maintain, etc and they are quieter noise wise.

I'd take a separate blower every time given the choice....

My experience has been limited in that regard. I had a New Holland CM224 with a 72" deck mounted belt driven blower, and a Deere 62" deck with the Powerflow unit. My other machines are a Kubota F3060 with the blower mounted to the side of the machine behind the operator which is belt driven and runs off of a jackshaft from the engine, and a Deere 1445 72" 7 iron deck, with a 7 HP Yanmar pony motor Peco collection system. My thoughts are that they all clog up, and when they do I tend to swaer a lot. But I find that the deck mounted blowers break up the clods that the deck throws at it, while the pony units will try to suck the clods up the tube where they will jam up easier. Never tried a cyclone rake though.

The cyclone rake breaks up just about anything it'll suck through the 7" tubing. I run over small branches and sticks and it'll chop up what's left. The impeller is very large in diameter (16" I think). It also mulches up the stuff up to 10 to 1 to a very dense mulch. DR sells a similar unit that might work even better with a large sharktooth impeller.

The other reason I like the deck powered blowers is I do not have another motor to service and this is small enough to store up in the loft during the winter. The loader comes in real handy to move these items and others to the loft. I am currently working on FEL forks. I purchased two sets and need to build the frame still, can't wait!!!

kvjohndeere I have a ton of flower beds and run between some. If I don't catch it it goes in the beds, even if I multch it up because it blows out from under the deck a little. Plus the other thing real nice is to pick up leaves in the fall.

We Bagged For years Because they really didnt have good mulching systems back then ! Again Your setup is awesome There is pros & Cons To both ! But the next time you cut grass see how much dust is in your collection system ! That is Topsoil ! Again I like your setup Awesome ! But that is why I guess we have forums To help one another out !
