Has the DPF light been blinking for a while or did it just come on when the tractor started running poorly?

It has been blinking before, but it has not been a chronic problem or particularly worse lately. I tend to run it in the PTO rpm range, even when doing something easy to try to keep the stupid thing cleaned out.

I think the emissions equipment is 2 year warranty.

I know a way to fix it permanently...

Curious, have you been running the engine at low throttle often? Tractors don’t like that and the emission system can get wonky if you do.

I wonder if running in the green range on the tach but not loading the engine down much will dirty the DPF over time.
Hopefully the load from running the PTO chipper will make up for the times I idle the tractor or don't load it hard.

Well, the tractor doesn't really care about that. The emissions system is what gets quite paranoiac.

As others suggested, there is a solution for that problem. Specially if you don't run the tractor a lot. After that, you can run the tractor however you want to, i.e: idling, not running at stupidly high RPMs just burning fuel, and so on.

OP,

I'm wondering if you've noticed more problems with the light blinking at various times when it's cold (winter time) air temp?

I'm still wondering if there's a correlation between sub-zero air temps and these filters having issues? Maybe we could help Branson pursue another engineering solution for "cold weather" applications? Like a block heater added to the dpf filter? Just spit balling ideas...

I am wondering why some people have problems and others don't (like me). I do things others wouldn't dare do; run it at low rpms for long periods of time and run for short run periods during cold weather and have never had a problem (yet, but its been nearly 400 hrs). Other people sneeze and their DPF's plug.

Hey, maybe you better look and make sure you have one in there.....:laughing: If not, so much the better anyhoo. When I "gutted" mine I hooked all the wiring back up and it acts just like a normal one would. Little light comes on with the key, start it up when heat light goes out, light flashes for a few seconds then goes out.....:dance1:

That's what mine does too! I can let it idle forever and nothing bad happens. Did you notice an improvement of fuel efficiency when you gutted your dpf?
