No way.

Get a better "mechanic".

There are no "sensors" that will affect cold start on the Branson. I suspect it is a glow plug issue.

That's what mine does too! I can let it idle forever and nothing bad happens. Did you notice an improvement of fuel efficiency when you gutted your dpf?

Heck, I don't really know. I just fill it up when needed. But I would guess that fuel consumption running 1500 to 2000rpm will burn less fuel than 2000-2500...and it "seems" to have picked up a bit more power also. Not like putting a comp box on your diesel PU more, but a bit, again just supposition. Not to "wander" the thread but are you in the Spokane area?

Looking at his profile it seems like he has a John Deere 4720, some of those use a coolant temperature sensor for a fuel boost on a cold start as well as controling his glow plugs.

Lol, ok. I thought he was talking about a Branson 4720.

Makes more sense now that he's letting a Deere mechanic look at it.

DPF filter plugged. Warranty it out. 4year on the dpf.
Last night I was bringing in the trash cans with the Tractor and noticed a loss of power. In the 1/4 mile drive I went from the tractor seems a bit sluggish to dead in the middle of my driveway. The engine made a clattering sound in the last couple hundred yards that would go away if I pulled power. Any idea what might cause this? I have a couple months left on the engine warranty, but my dealer went out of business sometime last year, so I am not sure how to use it.

It has been a good machine until this, and hasn't seem much use, with only ~130 hours. The DPF light was on when this happened.

Getting it out of the driveway hopefully won't be too hard. Getting a dead tractor on a trailer though could be a challenge.
