My B2620 Won't Crank Over

I think your clue that it was a safety switch was how it died when you got off the tractor. Both the HST treadle safety switch and PTO safety switch are also tied into the seat safety switch. So when it dies upon getting off the seat, you can almost bet it's a safety switch.

13.6 to 14.7 is what you want to see at the battery with engine running. Older tractors like my early 80's b series had a manual fuel shut off so no battery was needed for it to stay running. Our newer models have a electrical valve that turns the fuel on and off so yours was getting just enough volts to stay running straight from the alternator while your rpms were up but that bad battery sucked all the voltage at idle and the fuel solenoid closed. my guess is you bumped a lever out of position while diagnosing the problem and dont have any issues with a safety switch.

Thank you s219, I'll check out those safety switches as you suggested.

Bandaidmd, thanks for the information regarding the fuel solenoid. That sounds like what happened. As soon as I reduced the RPMs, the engine died.

Thank you to everyone who replied to this thread. I appreciate your help and suggestions.
