General, you made me curious. So I went out and measured the grade on some of my hills. I used an inclinometer that is built into my compass. From my measurements anything over about 20 degrees is starting to get steep to me. I have one pitch about 30 degrees which I consider real steep. So if your really going up steeper than 45 degrees, which is 50% more, you might want to put that weight back in your bucket and keep it real low. Why take chances you don't need to.

I'm gonna try and get a pic from the side the first part of next week and hopefully we all can get a better judge on the angle. Its steep no doubt, 45 degrees may be an exaggeration. The whole hill isn't as steep as the beginning. I've been up this hill multiple times and I take it very slow because I'm still not used to the incline. I tried to go up it the other day when it rained the day before. I had to abort and go another way. It just wasn't happening.

Grandad4 - Thanks for the heads up about HST pump operation. I will keep that in mind when operating on hills. Because of this board I have become more conservative when I operate on slopes, especially when mowing.
