Thanks Eddie, i had never thought of that scenario. The deck i asked about is hopefully going to
be covered with a roof this year, so i won't worry to much about it if i do. I do have a front deck that
wraps around 2 sides of the house, and that has the lattice which we hate. There is a drawback
to the lattice, snow blows in during the winter and accumulates, then when it starts to melt it melts
towards the basement wall first and has no where to go, so i get a little seepage into the basement.
Never wet down there once things thaw out. I had thought about enclosing under that deck to reduce the amount
of snow that accumulated and seeing if that stops the water from going down into the basement in the spring,
that room was finished but i have torn up flooring and removed baseboards pending a solution.
